Cook tame up from Toronto to visit old friends, Mr. Cools only stayed a couple of days but Mrs. Gook remained for a longer visit and also to visit re- latives in Goderich and the north- ern end of the County. Mrs. T. Jackson of Toronto is visit- ing friends in town. Mr, and Mrs. John Howson left last week for their home at Vancouver, B.C., after a stay of some weeks' in town. Mr. Howson was hailed home last winter by the illness of his brother and spent most of the winter here. He returned to the Coast City for a few weeks but re- turned and remained until after his brother's .death and the wind- up of his estate. Mr. and Mrs. Howson were in the habit of visit- ing the old town frequently while any member of the family remain- ed but now that the last one is laid away there will not be the same ' tiers Iloviever, their friends hope that -they witi not forget the home town and that they may make a re- turn!visit occasionally. STANLEY In the will of the late Mrs. Mary Stephenson of Stanley, she left, as she thought, a residue of the estate to the Goshen United church. Owing to certain circumstances, when all lega- cies were paid, there was no residue left for the church. The lawyer, Mr. F. Pingland, of Clinton, in handing over the different amounts- to the beneficiaries named in the will, sug- gested that seeing it was the wish of the deceased lady to make a dona- tion to the church, it world be grant- ing her wish if each would give a small amount thereto.
