The Smiles 'n Chuckles Club met
at the home of Mr. and Mts. D. Ras -
mit, and justified their cognomen,
ith mr. Ben. Churchill acting as
chairman very aeeeptably.
Miss Bernice Bond contributed sev-
eral piano solos and acted as accom-
panist for the first sing -song to the
general pleasure of the club.
Little Miss Gertrude Easom de-
lighted all with two instrumentals and
a humorous recitation on the mumps.
Mr. Chas. Williams, jr., gave a tend-
ing on "Corn, Agricultural and oth*
erwise," while Mrs, R. 0. Thompson
said a piece about "A. Schoolmaster,"
In addition to the piano music there
were guitar, violin, harmonica and
jews harp selections by H. Lobb, B.
Churchill, R. Thompson and 3, Al-
liston, the boys on several occasions
singing to their own accompaniment,'
The poets have said things are not
what they seam but that was not so
in at least one of the contests, as
it was exactly what it was said to be
not what people thought it was.
The musical romance proved baf-
flyingly romantic to some of us. But

in this direction, However, when it
