TWO ELDERLY WOMEN IN-
STANTLY KILLED AT EG-
.IIONDVILLE ON FRIDAY
LAST
Mrs. Charlesworth and Mrs. Me+
Gooch of Egmondville were almost
instantly killed late Friday night
when they are believed to have
stepped into the path of a light mot-
or truck driven by Andrew Moore,
also of Egmondville, proprietor of
the Sunnyvale Poultry farm. .
It was one of the most tragic ac-
cidents in the history of who
County. Mrs. Charlesworth, who was
in her 76th year and Mrs. MeGeoch,
68, were crossing the road, after they
had spent a friendly evening to-
gether at the latter's hone.
Mrs. Charlesworth and Mrs. Me-
Geoch were members of two of
the oldest families of the district
and had lived in the neighborhood
their entire lives. Mrs. McGeocll
was born in Tuckersmith just out-
side of Egmondville, and had lived
in Egmondville for about forty
years. She is survived by two sons,
Roy of Tuckersrnith and Ray of
Toronto; one daughter, Mrs. Paul
Doig of Egmondville and one broth,
er, Robert, of Animo, B.C.
Mrs. Charlesworth, prior to her
marriage to the late Alexander
Charlesworth, who passed away
some fifteen years ago was Miss
Margaret Van Egmond, a daughter
of the late Leopold Van Egmond,
one of the eriginal settlers of the
district. Mrs. 'Charlesworth had
been residing• at the home .of. her
daughter, Mrs. W.: Govenlock and
hard' left early in the' evening to
spend the evening at the home of
Mrs. IVI'cGeoch. It is believed that
Mrs. Charlesworth was being accom-
panied homo by Mus. McGeoch when
the accident occurred. Mrs. Charles-
worth was the last :;member of the
Leopold Van Egmond family. There
are surviving, one "'daughter, ;Mrs.
Govenlock and three sons, •William,
of Toronto, Leo of Parkhill ad Hor-
atio • of Niagara -Falls.
Mr.. Moore had been in Seaforth
and was returning to his farm, which
is just about a quarter of a mile
from the spot where, the fatality oc-
curred, He was drivnng'•south at the
time.' , ,
The funeral of the ,two old friends
was held 'en Monday afternoon:
Mr. N. W. Trewartha, ex warden of
Huron County, represented the
County at a banquet given to North
Huron representatives in Goderich
on Friday evening last.
Rev. A. A. Holmes is up from To-
ronto fol, a day or so and is the
guest of '"Dr. II. Fowler while in
tkn . lIke II"having a day 'or two
M the woods, his choice of a holi-
day.
