You may dodge dangerous auto-.
mobiles, spilling the salt, breaking a
mirror, nimbly hop around ladders,
but there still remains the added in-
cident of Cupid's unerring ann.
It is not likely that the good Bish-
op 'Valentine, whose memory is cher-
ished by so many, ever visioned so.
extensive a celebration as once.a
year exists (it was estimated that
160,000 Valentines were mailed in
Toronto alone last year.) There will
be parties, dances, friends to be re-
membered if not by gifts by cards.
We are ready for the occasion
with cards in price from le to 10e,
some for children, cute and amusing,
some expressing sweet sentimental-
ity, some with mature phrasing for
the elder folks, some saucy and pi-
quant, some for sister, brother,
sweetheart, dad and mother, Valen-
tines for everybody.
Then napkins, cut-outs, streamers,

While we in this province have
been enjoying spring-like weather
nearly all winter so far, they have
had some pretty frosty weather in
the west. Mr. Allen Johns, who left
fox the west early in January,
writes home them he ran into some
thirty -below weather at Calgary and,
so he states, you can really "feel" it
at that temperature. Of course, go-
ing from such a semi -tropical clime
as .Ontario one naturally would.
Allen, who is with the De Forest -
Crossley people and has been travel-
ing all over Ontario in their inter-
ests, has been sent to the western
Provinces.He will have his head-
quarters at Vancouver but will trav-
el over 'a large territory, adjusting
and inspecting radios. This appoint-
ment was a nice little advancement
for a' boy like Allen and his friends
