meeting a baking sale was held, pro-
ceeds amounting to $8.

celebration -was held in kronor of Mr.
Moses' Holtzhauer who on that day
was '78 years old.
Eugene Dobie, an officer in the
R.C.A.F., visited 'friends here on
Friday on his. 'furlough 'from his
base at Charlottetown, P. E. L
' IVIrs. Bert Craig received the sad
news last week of the death of her
brother, Jack McNall, of Blyth. Mr,
McNeil was fighting with the Cana-
dian forces in Normandy when he
was killed. . He is survived by his
wife and seven children. George Mc -
Nall is a •brother also,
Raithby, Mrs. Frank Raithby Amel-
ia McIlwain and Marie Raithby. Rev.
C, E. Anderson led in prayer and
Mrs. R. J. Philips and .Mrs. Earl
McKnight sang a duet. At this meet-
ing a Red Cross quilt was quilted. A
pot luck lunch was served.
A freak of nature occurred et the
farm of John Doerr on Saturday
night during . an electrical storm.
The lightning struck a stook of
wheat in the field and it was burned
completely to the ground. No other
damage was done. to the rest of the
field, .
f A very happy meeting• took place
in_ England when two brothers, Keith
and Harry'Arthnr met for the first
time in two years. It was in 1942
that Keith went to England and Har-
ry arrived there in March of this
year.

in the church 'basement with Mrs.
Jas. Woods in charge •of the
devotional period in which she of

'feted prayer and read the scripture.
Mrs. Jas. Jackson had - charge of an
interesting program, Mrs. Jaekhan
gave a` reading and led in `prayer.
The scripture was read by Mrs. H.
Wagner, Prayer "for our country and
for the women of -this land" and for
those who toil" were given by Mrs,
Mogridge and Mrs. 'Ander'son. res-
pectively. The herald on home
sions was given by 'Miss `Margaret
King and that on Christian Steward-
ship by Mrs. Woods. Mrs.' Wm. Craig
sang a solo after which Miss Mar-
garet Jackson gave an 'address en

ing of the W. A. of Brucefield United
Church on Aug. 1.
The meeting was conducted by

taking the devotional` part. Hymns.

sive reading. Several items of busi-
