The Sea Cadets from Camp
Kitchigami and a team of Bayfield
boys and. Summer visitors staged a
soft ball ,game in Clan Gregor
Square, Bayfield, on Monday even-
ing. The score was 13-8 in favour of
the Sea Cadets,

Mrs. H. McClincirey, accompanied
by Mr. and Mrs. A. Holm and son
Roy, returned to her hone in the
village on Saturday.

critically ill at her summer home in

Rumor Gardiner To Run in
Huron I

Political talk has it that Hon. J.
G. Gardiner, minister of agriculture,
will foresake his ,Saskatchewan seat
and run in Iris native Huron -Perth.
The homestead is in Stephen Town-
ship . where the minister's mother
resides, Some reports have it that
W. II. Golding, sitting member, is to
be elevated to the Senate.

William Fowlie of Bayfield. He
went to reside in Galt forty-five
years age, and for the past twenty
years has been retired. He is survived
by a 'brother, Andrew of Goderieh,
also four nephews and four nieces,

MRS. A. J. 1VIcMURRAY
Crushed when the wall of a vacant
building collapsed, Mrs.; A. 3. McMur-
ray, wife of Ea: -Mayor McMurray,
was,instantly killed Monday, July 31.
The fatality occurred on the farm
of Fletcher Townsend, Tuckersniith,
where Mr. and Mrs. McMurray and
Mr. and Mrs. Walker were busy dis-
mantling a brick house on the vacant
farm intending to use the bricks in
repairing the tower of Ontario Street
United Chur•eh.
The wall is reported to have col-
lapsed . without warning, striking

and Mr. Arthur Groves. Friends and

WILLIAM WALKER
As a result of an accident the
death occurred in Clinton on Monday,
July 31st of William,'Walker.. The
accident took place on a farm in
Tuckersmiti ' Township owned. by
Mr. Fletcher Townsend of Clinton.
Mr. Walker and Mr. McMurray had
purchased the. brick house from Mr.
Townsend and were wrecking it,
salvaging the materials. The wall,
collapsed, crushing' Mr. anti Mrs.
Walker and Mrs. McMurray. Mrs.
McMurray was killed instantly and
Mr. Walker succumbed- a few hours
later in Clinton Hospital.,
William Walker was born in Clin-
ton, on November 23rd, 1866, the son
of the late James Walker and Mar-
garet Dodsworth Walker, and was
the last surviving member of his
family.
He was twice married, first to Isa-
bella Shepherd, who predeceased him
several years ago. There - were four
children, Billy, who gave his life
in the First Great War, Margaret
died in 1918, and Agnes, Mrs. (Dr.)
Wilson died four years ago, and
Grace, wife of F1t. Lt. Wilfred Tan-
ner of St Catharines. There are
four grandchildren.
His second wife, formerly Dora
Addison, survives,
Mr. Walker had lived • all his life
in Clinton and was a devoted mem-
ber of the Ontario Street•United
Church, serving for many years on
the Board of Management and as
superintendent of the Sunday School
He was also keenly interested in
civic affairs, and was a member of
the council for several years. He
was also a member of the Orange.
Order.
The service was held at his late
hone on High Street, on Thursday
afternoon, August 3rd. Rev. G. 0
Burton conducted the service. The
pall bearers were members of the
Sunday School executive, Messrs 0•
W . Potter, W. M. Aiken, M. Wiltse
C, E. Elliott, Thos. Hardy and W.'S
R. Holmes.
Interment took place in Clinton
Cemetery.
