PORTER'S HILL
Monday, April 17, the Red Cross
meeting was.held at Mrs. Alvin
Betties home,.with a good atten-
dance. Two quilts were quilted and
wool and sewing materials were hand-
ed out for our next quota. The Red
Cross parties sponsored by; the three
different groups are all completed for
this year, and certainly proved a
success. All together $348. was rea-
lized, Those who did not•have a party
each contributed five dollars. Tickets
were sold at the meeting on a quilt
donated by Mrs, Don Harris and won
by: Elenor. Cox.
The W. A. meeting for May will be
held at the home of Mrs. Jim Cox as
will also' the May Red Gross meeting.
Mr,. Henry Ivison and "daughter,
Jean, who sold their farm near Kip -
pen, are staying at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Reed Torxance. until - they
can secure a house in town.
Miss Kate Williams has gone to
assist in a home near Londesboro.
Miss Mary Torrance is recovering
from Mumps.
Mr. and Mrs. Arlie Lockhart spent
Monday with friends near Seaforth,
and attended Mrs. Webster's sale at'
Egtnondville.
Barry Torrance, who :has been at-
