• COLTS BEAT STAFFA
IN LOOSE GAME
ON COOL NIGHT
Clinton Colts spotted Staffa a six.
ran lead in the first two innings of
their Huron -Perth Baseball League
•match here Thursday evening last,
but then went out and staged a six -
un• barrage in 'the last of the second
and an eight -run attack in the last
of the third to win finally by 17-9.
It was a weird game of ban, play-
ed under trying conditions of chill
weather and swirling winds. Chief
features ,seemed to be that ,the old
- reliable centrefielder Bob Draper of
Colts dropried his first fly of the
year and Bruce Balfour, Skaffa
shortstop, one of the best players in
the league, ,had three errors.
The crowd" shivered and shook
throughout the entire piece and
many were glad when the six -and -a -
half innings of loose play were over.
Dong Bartliff mine up with his
eellearielattiledirenelleXer
best game of the year at •shortstop
with three safe hits in five times up
and two runs ,scored. Bob Draper
had a triple; dotible and a single,
Ken. Miller a triple and two singles,
Laurie Colqnheun, Bob Miller and
Blondy Cook had two safe hits each.
Bob Sadler started on the mound
for Staffa, hut gave way to Ross
Houghton with two out in the third.
Bill Cook pi -billed the whole game
for Olinton. He let the visitors down
with seven hits and fanned eight
and walked two.
