Mrs, John ateKnight, a neighbor of
1 Mrs. Govier, who recently sold her
home and has shoved to Goderich,
was presented with •abbrooch and ear-
ring set, a hand bag and Bible. An
, address was read by Mrs. Roberton
and the presentation made by airs.

Haggitt. Mrs. iMoKnight •expressed
appreeiabion for the gifts. All .the
ladies read a poem of their own
composition congratulatting the guest
of honor. The afternoon was.. spent

Mrs, Govier's maiden name was
Alice Sheppard, daughter of the late
John and 4Vlargaret Sheppard. Her
parents came to Canada in 1852,
settling near •Toronto, where Mrs.
Govier was born, but in 1861 the
family moved,- to Wihibby and remain-
ed there for seven years. 78 years
ago they moved from. Whitby to
Goderich Township to the Sheppard
farm in the Maitland coneession. On
Dee. 23, 1881, Alice Sheppard mar-
ried Harry Govier at the Methodist
Church: Goderich, by Rev. Volliek..
Following their marniiage ,their' re-
sided on a farm in Nast Wawanosh,
moving to the Govier homestead on
the Base Line. They remained there

Community Club Meets
The April meeting of the 'S.S. No.
4 'Community Club was held at the
home of Mrs. Churchill with a good
a tendmice. The president, Mrs.
Forbes. was in the chair, The meet-
ing mimed wiith the Lord's Prayer in
unison. The minutes were read and
adopted, also the financial report of
the past year.
It was decided • to have a social
evening at the home of Mrs. Forbes,
ane hostesses for this occasion are to
be Mrs. C. 'Tebbutt and Josephine
Muir. After a business discussion a
committee 'brought in the following
slate of officers for the coming year:

have been appointed to direct the
surveiy commencing May 5, preparat-
ory to the staging of a mass X-ray
chest :clink from May 17 to 22 These
captains will .direct a group of 1501
canvassers, who will register citizens
for the free X-ray examination to be
conducted by the Goderich 'area com-
mittee.

of the tearing down and removal of

pital 'at the Port Albert Airport,
which was purchased' from War Ass-
ets Corporation for the row extens-
ion. Estimated cost of power house
and laundry is $10,000; and of the •
