Force Stratford to Overtime
Playing smart hockey) from , gong
to gong, Clinton Colts forced Strat-
ford Legion, an "A." team, into over-
time play in an OIHA Intermediate
group match at Tavistock Tuesday
evening. Final count was 5-3. It was
the fastest game on Tavistock ice
this seasons.
An unfortunate accident took place,
Hal Stade, who had been going great
guns in the Clinton net throughout
the game, was accidentally cut on.
the tip of the nose from a skate
while lying flat on the, ice in the
third period. After being patched
:up, he. returned to the ice but his
eyesight was affected and also the
steadiness of the team.
At the time of the goalie's injury,
Colts were leading 3-2, but Stratford
used four forwards most 'of the time
in the third frame and finally scored,
Duchaiine from Rohfritsch, it being
Ducharme's second of the night.
Ducharme broke the deadlock at
4.20 of the overtime, to complete the
hat trick, and Don Gatschene made
Victory secure at 8.15 fou the Legion.
with Ducharnre and Ayres assisting
him. Duoharme had the opportunity
of counting• his fourth goal when he
was awarded a penalty shot in, the
second period, but Hal Stade out-
guessed hint on the free shot.

Seaforth Lads
Defeat Colts
BY 10-5 Count
The'Seaforth representatives made'
no mistake about it Friday evening
last whenthey tools the Colts over
the hoops by 10-5 before a crowded
gallery. They were the better team
en the night's play and deserved
their victory,' although the score
should have been a Tittle closer than
two -to -one. '
After a first period of splendid
hockey, with the visitors leading by
only 2-1, the fans settled away to a
real ice battle, and whenthe home -
stews tied the so'''rt halfway through
the second and went into the lead it
few minutes later, it looked as if
the Colts' were due for a victory.
And even at the end of the second,
with Seaforth again in the lead by
4-3, it was anybody's game.
With -the Beavers short a man just
after the start of the third stanza,
Colts tied it np at 4-4, and that was
the closest the locals got to the win
column. The Colts ran into a series
of disastrous penalties, the first a
major 'to Westbrooke for attacking
Powel, and while he was off, the
visitors ran in ,two counters to go
into the lead, followed shortly after
Westbrooke's return by a third. The
ltoinestels scored another 'on a com-
bination play. Bartliff went to the
hoosego'w, and while he was off.
Beavers clicked again. In the Mast
two minutes of play, Schoenhals was
given the thumb, for tripping and the
visitors ,promptly replied with an-
other pair to bring their total to ten.
As in the previous game at Sea -
forth, Colts looked weak defensively,
protection at
Stade
gave
little
and g v
times. Penalties and lack -of con-
dition played a big part in their
last -period downfall. •
"Izzy" Powell, erstwhile Colt, was
the best man on the ice, despite a
heavy -checking barrage to which he
was subjected. .Right now, he is
palying the best hockey of his career.
Ken Pickett, Harry NlcEevan, Ken
Colquhoun and Bob Draper showed
up best for the Colts. •
Friday, January 31, to play their
fifth WOSSA game. The boys did
it again! Five wins out of five games.
It was the third loss for the girls.
Both games were close and exciting
especially the boys as the CCT lads
really had to fight. The final scores
were: boys 2542 and girls 18-10.
"Cluck" Hanly and Marg. Colquhoun
were the •high scorers for CCS with
18 and 8 points respectively.
