Clinton Women's Institute
Holds Successful Picnic
Clinton Women's Institute held its
regular meeting on Thursday after-
noon last in the form of its' annual
picnic. The gathering was held hi
Lions Park, Seaforth. There were
31 in attendance.
Mrs. Mervyn Batkin presieed and
the usualopening exercises the
singing of the Ode and the Lord's
Prayer -opened the meeting. The'
regular imports were given and' adopt-
ed and the bills were ordered paid
Mrs. Ernest Epps invited the Instit-
ute to hold Grandmothers' Day, which
will be the regelar meeting on Aug-
ust 22 on her lawn ,en King St. Thia
invitation was 'gratefully accepted'.

Mr. and Mae. Douglas G. Ball re-
turned home Sunday from their post-
nuptial trip to Manitoulin Island and
other Pints. They are residing on

still quite 111 in Westminster Hospital, London.

Marks 89th Birthday
At Home of Her Daughter
Mrs. Margaret Warnock, Winnipeg,
who is visiting her daughter, IVIrs. R.
M. 'Snarling, Clinton, 'celebrated her
89th birthday yesterday. Mrs,. Sperling
had a few ladies in for afternoon tea
during the afternoon.
Mrs. Warnock, isa spite of her ad:.
vanced years, enjoys exceptionally
fine health and in a couple of 'weeks
time will be returning to her home in
Winnipeg.
During the day, she received num-
erous cards, and messages of congrat-
ulations. Among them were rement-
brances front nearly all of her 22
grandchildren. She has 25 great
grandchildren as, well.
a green silk crepe gown with black
accessories and a corsage of pink
roses and violets, The reception was
followed by a dinner at the church at
which eight friends of the bride as-
sisted.
Later Mr. and Mee. Kernighan left
on a motor trip to Muskoka, bile bride
travelling in a white eyelet embroid-
ery dress with white hat and acces-
sories. On their return they will re-
side in Colborne Township.
