Clinton R. and C. .s. team has two
more games in the WOAA intermed-
iate baseball group schedule, Goderich
playing at the sports field on Monday,
July 22, and St. Marys on Monday,
July 29, to close the schedule.
According to instructions from
Town Council, Town Clerk and Treas-
urer M. T. Corless is taking "the
occasional day" as his vacation this
year.
Mr. and Mrs. Hugh R. Hawkins
are attending the Lions International
Convention in PhiladelPhia, Pa., this
week. Mr. Hawkins is the official
delegate of Clinton Liona Club.

The large "clam" digger of Weston
Construction Co., Ltd., is busily at
work on the new sewerage project
at a point on King St., north of the
CNE tracks. Negotiating the tracks
proved quite a difficult job.

No one was injured but some dam-
age was done to both cars when an
auto driven by Ernest Zehr, Shake-
speare,drove into the rear end of a
ear driven by Clifford Jenkins, Clin-
ton,Sunday. The accident happened
during the heavy rainstorm at St.
Jacobs on Highway 85.

Clinton Board of Education met in
committee in Secretary H. C. Lawson's
office last evening and considered five
tenders for school bus service to com-
mence September 3. Following con-
sultation of a special committee with
a representative of Ontario Depart-
roent of Education contracts will be
awarded.

Contract is Awarded
For Grand Bend Per
A $55,000 contract for re -building
of the north pier at Grand Bend has
been awarded to Detroit River Con-
struction Company, Blenheim.
The old pier is to be surrounded by
steel sheet piling and sapped with
concrete, the engineer explained, The
job will require 17,000 square feet of
sheet steel and 1,000 cubic yards of
concrete. There may be some delay
in starting due to the difficulty of
obtaining steel.
