that time he also went to work d:oor ithe Government, so I purchas-
ed his gunsmd'thiug equipment and obtained my own gunsmith,
This department has been very good right from the start and
we now have added an apprentice to lectin the gunsmnhthing
business, as we have much more work than possible to do with
one man.. I alio have an expert 'stocker that is working on our
stocks approximately 75 per cent of his itihne.
"About three years ago we stunted Mr, Gaston Nolet, a
resident of 1V,loa treal, with our line for the Quebec and Maritimes
and Eastern Ontario district. About a year ago we started
Ross McDonald in Medicine Hat, with our !line, and this spring
we took on 'another traveller by the name of Orville Smith of
London, Ontario. These men call only on the major sporting
goods stores and we pride ourselves in beihng able to do 'a fairly
good job in supplying them with items that have been almost
bnpossible to obtain from any other .source. It has taken a lot
of hard work •and a lot of time to locate and obtain the ;goods
wished, bait the results have more than ,compensated for the
added trouble.
"Just a final closing word to our customers: We know in
the past we have been quite slow in making deliveries. We have
done the very best we possibly could and we have almost con-
sistently been short of help and shorter still of supplies, but
things are graduailly clearing and we hope that in the not too
distant future, we will be able to give you the finest delivery
that we would like to."

equipment and taking them out, and experimenting and trying
to find out if we couldn't find more then than we were able
to learn by the books.
Awned to Satisfy
"During ail this time we 'tried to use our customers that
came into our place the way we would like to be used if we were
out shopping ourselves and do believe that this has greatly
assisted us in building up as Targe a clientele ars we have at
the present time. We have made mistakes but if informed of
them, have always done our best to rectify them.
"When tilne permitted, I did a little wood working and I
believe that dictated the choice we had of the interior of our
present store. Almost everything—hi fact everything—is all
done in natural wood; no paint is used in the store or offices or
Jgame room. To me there never has been .anything as beautiful
as natural wood finished up properly."
Was discharged after serving in the Ir
Royal Canadian Nan' and is the proud
father of a new baby.

It Actually Happened
Four Chinese girl -students, none too
familiar with the English language,
rented an apartment and kept house
for themselves while attending a
western university. They chose one
girl to be the housemaid manager and
left the buying of food, the paying
of rent, and other financial matters
in her hands.
A. ehair was broken and a cabinet-
maker was called in. The girl -
manager engaged him to do the repair
work believing that the cost would.
be $2.50. However, when the chair
was returned the cabinetmaker pre-
sented her with a bill for $3.50. She
was very much surpµised, and so was
the cabinetmaker when she cried out
in her confusion.
"I cannot understand it! You are
dearer to me now than when we
were engaged!"
