CELEBRATES ITS
17TH ANNIVERSARY
Wesley -Willis United Church cele-
brated its anniversary on Sunday
with special services both morning
and evening. The guest speaker was
Rev, Norman Langford, assistant
secretary of Sunday School Publiea-
tions from the United Church Pub-
lishing House, Toronto, The minister,
Rev. Andrew Lane, was in charge of
both services.
Special music was rendered by the
,choir during the day under the direc-
tion of Mrs. Morgan Agnew who pre-
sided at the organ. In the morning',
the choir sang the anthem, "Fear
Not Ye, 0 Israel" and Mrs. W. A.
Oakes sang the solo "0 Divine Re-
deemer." In the evening the choir
'sang two anthems: "King All -Glor-
ious' with . Misses Mary Lane, Kay
Britton, Joyce Grigg, Joyce Andrews.
and Margaret.Holland taking a ladies
chorus and obligato part; and "Abide
With Me" with. Misses Mary Lane
and Eileen Sutter taking the solo
parts. Following the evening pray-
er, Mrs. W. M- Nediger very beauti-
fully sang "The Lord's Prayer."
The evening services in Ontario St.
United Church and St, Paul's Angli-
can Church were withdrawn in hon-
our of this anniversary occasion. Rev.
D. J. Lane read the Scripture lesson
at this service and Rev. G. G, Burton
led in prayer. •
In the mornnig the guest speaker
spoke on "Repentance", dealing with
lessons arising out --of the story of
Nathan coming to David after Uriah
the Hittite bad been killed and David
had taken Uriah's wife. "Why is it
that we who know the value of Chris-
tianity always need urging to turn
away from our wicked lives?" the
speaker asked.
In the evening the speaker spoke
on "The Need for living a Better
Life." He pointed out that because
