Mrs. Fred Russell entertained at a
delightful tea, Tuesday afternoon and
evening in.honor of her mother, Mrs,
Robert Elgie, who celebrated her 80th
birthday. Many friends took the op-
portunity of calling to wish a happy
birthday and to express the wish that
Mrs. Elgie will, be spared for many
years yet. In spite of her advanced
years, Mrs. Elgie is extremely smart
and active. The members of the fam-
ily who were present for the occasion
were three daughters, Mrs. Hunt,
Seaforth; Mrs. Upshall, , Hamilton:
and Mrs. 'Russell at home; one son,
Robert Elgie, Kippen; a granddaugh-
ter, Mrs, Pentney and small daughter,
Hamilton; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Ches-
ney, Stratford. Mrs. Chesney was
Mrs. Elgie's bridesmaid and she too

Anniversary Well Attended
Very large audiences were present
for the Young, People's Anniversary
in Brucefield United Church Sunday,
both morning and evening. Rev. R.
Gordon Hazlewood, Walton, was, the
guest speaker and gave two very
earnest and inspiring sermons, choos-
ing as his subjects, "Rejoice,„Ever-
more" and "How to Have a Good
Time." Mr. Hazlewood is always a
.verywelcome guest in Brucefield
Church. The Y. P. choir rendered.
excellent music and were ably assisted
by Miss Lois Whitney, S.eaforth, who
sang "My Task" in the morning, and
"Bless this House in the Evening."
At the morning service a duet was
sung 1by Mrs. A. Mustard and .Mrs,
A. J. Burdge, "He Lifted Me." The
choir also rendered very fine anthem,
The basement was filled to capac-
ity on Monday evening when the Wal-
ton Young People presented their
poly, "The Life of Riley." The players
took their parts exceptionally well.

To Close Part Of Isaac Street, Clinton
Public Notice is hereby given that the Council of the Town of
Clinton, at the next regular meeting of the Council t9 be held on the
3rd day of June, AD., 1946, at 8 o'clock in the evening, will give
consideration to the Third Reading of a By-law to close that part
of Isaac Street, Clinton, lying between the Bay -field Road and a
point 420 feet South of the Southerly boundary of theright of way
of the Buffalo and Lake Huron Railway Company, and to convey
the part so closed to Ernest A. Adams, the owner of the lands
adjoining the part so proposed to be closed.
All persons opposed to the proposed By-law are hereby notified
to attend the said meeting in person or by Counsel to state their
objections thereto.
The proposed By-law may be inspected during office hours at
the office of the Clerk of the Town of Clinton.
