Following the banquet, J. R. Van -
Haarlem, research chemist, Vineland
ExperirnentaI Station, introduced by
J. J. Johnson, fruit inspector, London,
gave an excellent illustrated address
on orchard soil management by show-
ing several interesting slides on this
phase of fruit growing.
Professor 3. E. Howitt, Ontario
Agricultural College, Guelph, gave •a
thought-provoking and timely address
on splay materials for orchards cov-
ering the subject in a clearcut, defin-
ite manner. with particular mention
of the apple scab so prevalent in
1945. .
Prof. R. W. Thompson, Provincial
Entomologist, Guelph, also delivered
a very interesting address, and Gor-
don Blair. Burlington, also spoke be-
fore adjournment.
