'Clinton Midgets were scheduled to
'open their WOAA play-off series with
Exeter here last evening.
When the group finished its
schedule, Goderich was in first place
and Clinton and Exeter in second and
third places, respectively. Therefore,
•Goderich gets a bye into the play-offs
and meets the winner of the Clinton -
Exeter series.
•It will be a two -game, hone -and -
home series with goals to count. The
second game will be played in Exeter
tomorrow evening.

Clinton Lions Juvenile hockey team
put up a great fight in Exeter on
Monday evening and were able to
hold the Exeter team to a 5-5 draw.
This was made possible lay the
stand -out performance of Beattie of
Seaforth, at centre for Clinton. He
played the entire game and accounted
for four of their goals. Knight scored
the other Clinton tally. .
This year'sjuveniles are aided by
a number of Seaforth boys who are
certainly the hottest men on the ice.

Regular Schedule With
Victory Over Clinton
Goderich Midgets finished the reg-
ular hockey schedule in grand style
by defeating Clinton Lions 8-2 in
Goderich on Monday evening.
The Goderich boys ended up in
first place, having • won all but one of
their eight games this season.
In Monday night's tilt, Goderich
was led by Price who accounted'. for
three of his team's goals. Close on
his heels were Fulford and Beacom
who tallied two goals each. Ross
Colquhoun and Cameron Maltby were
the Clinton marksmen.

By Swamping Ingersoll
Seaforth Bosharts continued their
fight for a play-off berth and went
two points up on Clinton Wearwells
by defeatng the visiting Ingersoll
Hellcats by 15-7 on Tuesday evening,
The ice was very soft and both teams
were hindered greatly.
The Seaforth attack was led by
McFadden who accounted for four
Seaforth goals. Burford and J. Hend-
erson each scored two goals for
Ingersoll.

Defeats Wingham Group
First Clinton' 'Wolf Cub Pack has
organized a hockey team from within
its ranks,.
The boys met their first opposition
of the season,' when on Saturday
afternoon they played' host to the
Wingham boys. The Clinton kids had
been talking of their winning powers
and they certainly proved that it was
not all talk, skating off the ice with
a 9-0 win.
In the first period, Cameron Maltby
started the team' off on the right foot
when he scored a nice goal on a pass
from his brother Clare. Not to be
outdone by iris brother Cameron,
Clare went through the whole Wing -
ham team for Clinton's second goal.
With only a few minutes remaining
in the period, Bob Elliott scored on a
long shot,
In the second period, Clare Maltby
got twomore Clinton goals and Gerry
Holmes got one to give Clinton a 6-0
lead,
Gerry Holmes opened the scoring in
the third period with a nice goal.
Clare and Cameron Maltby each ac-
counted for another goal to give the
local boys the impressive total of 9
goals.
Harold Gibbings, in the Clinton
nets played a very good game, re-
ceiving ' his first shut -out of the
season.
The Clinton boys go to Exeter on
Wednesday night -to play the Cubs of
that town.
The Clinton lineup was: Goal, Har-

Goderich Midgets ', and Juvenile
have continued' to dominate their r
spective groups in the WOAA. The
played hosts to the Ehceter ` teams
Thursday evening last and defeated
them both..
In the Midget game, Goderich edg-
ed out a 2-1 win over Exeter, Price
andgoals. McPhail scored the Goderich

trounced their. visitors by 23-5.
II. Warren, with six, and Bissett
and Newcombe with five were the

led the Exeter Juveniles with two

*Fighting desperately for a play-
off position among the favoured first
four teams in the district OFIA Inter-
mediate "B" group, Clinton Wear -
wells and Seaforth Bosharts staged
a real ice battle at •Seaforth Thurs-
day evening last, the latter putting
enough push into the second period
to emerge with an 8-5 victory. Play
was closer than the score would in-
dicate.
The same teams play back here
tomorrow night, when the largest
crowd in years is expected to attend.
In fact, at last Thursday's game in
Seaforth, the majority of the large
crowd of more than 1,000 appeared
to be .from Clinton, reminiscent of
former days of hockey glory!
"Cooney" McEwan picked up three
points, Timmer" McEwan two, Bob
Draper two, and Bartliff and Duck-
worth one each. Brush, who has been
playing bang-up hockey in goal all
season, seemed to have a little bit of
an "off" night, which every player
has once in a while.

London Majors continued their up-
hill climb when, on Friday evening
at Ingersoll, they defeated. Ingersoll
Hellcats by..4-2 to gain first •place in
the group standing.
Majors started out strong but by
the third period the Hellcats were
controlling most of the play. The
Ingersoll Arena was packed for the
game, with a crowd of 1,200 paying
admission,
Andress, of the London team was
the high scorer of the night, account-
ing for two of his team's goals, Jones,
in the London net was the deciding
factor in the London win, as time
and time again he stopped the Inger-
soll team,
