,Veterinary Association
Dr, George S. Elliott, Clinton, was
elected president of the Western On-
tario Veterinary Association at the
annual meeting in London Thursday
afternoon last.
Elected as vice-president for '1946
was. Dr. G. Henderson, Lambeth,, with
Dr. J. Bovaird, London, re-elected as
. secretary -treasurer for another term.
The advantages of calfhood vac-
eination amongst calves of dairy and
beef herds were outlined in a short
address presented by Dr. A. L. Mac-
Nabb, principal of the Ontario Vet-
erinary College at Guelph.
Dr. Elliott, together with 24 other
veterinary surgeons from Western
Ontario, is attending the 72nd annual
meeting of the Ontario Veterinary
Association in Niagara Falls, Ontario,
yesterday, today and tomorrow.
The three-day meeting is covering
A wide variety of problems and dis-
cussion designed to bring veterinaries
up to date, on the. latest methods of
the profession.

HOLSTEIN GROUP
TO HAVE EXHIBIT
AT PLOW MATCH
Huron County Holstein Breeders'
Club held a directors' meeting in the
Agricultural Office, Clinton, on Fri-
day, January 18, when it was decided
to have an exhibit of Huron County
Holstein ,cattle at the International
Plowing Match at Port Albert h
October.
A. committee was appointed to
make arrangements, and a group of
cattle will be selected at Or following
the Black and 'White Day in Septem-
ber.
It was also decided to hold the an-
nual Spring meeting.early in April in
the Board Room of the Agricultural
°thee. G. M. Clemmon,, Secretary,
Holstein -Friesian Asa:eiation, has
been invited as guest speaker... He
also will show pictures in technicolor
taken: while he and J. J. E. 1'IoCague,

representative, was present and in-
troduced the offer of the province to
pay one-third of the cost of spraying.
to exterminate the warble fly in one
municipality.in the county for a dem-
onstration to show its effectiveness.
Three spayings will be needed at
intervals, the province to pay one-
third, the township one-third and the
individual farmer the other third.
The total cost for the three sprays
is estimated at 12 or 13 cents per
head as the farmerts share.
The Council thought well of this
offer and is going to ask the F'ed'-
eration of Agriculture to assist in
asking everyone to join in this cam-
paign.
Council decided to join Ontario
Municipal Association and send the
Reeve as delegate to a letter from
Planning and Development. The Clerk
was instructed to reply.
Bylaw 1, setting salaries, \vas read
a third time and passed.
Bylaw' 2, appointing officials, also
was read and passed.
Bylaw 3, to provide for expenditure
on township roads during 1946, and
bylaw 4, to borrow $8,000 from the
Royal Bank for current expenditures
were read and passed.
Accounts were. ordered paid as fol-
lows: Ontario Municipal Association
fees, $5; G. E. Hall, balance account,
$7.25; Signal -Star, printing, $36.79;
W. M. Aiken, gifts for returned
men, $10; Geo. B. Beattie, for gifts,

of Clinton, use of Council Chamber,

death occurred in Toronto recently,

Don Miller tallied an unassisted
goal in each of the second 'and third
periods, The first Clinton goal was
made by Matthews in the first per-
iod, and that was soon followed by
another by Denomme. Kirk, an Ex;
eter sub, counted the only goal for
his team in the third period. - •

Three Goderich Teams
Lead Hockey Groups
During the past week, the three
Goderich hockey teams have climbed
far in front in their respective groups.
The Juvenile entry has .beaten
Blyth once and Exeter once, besides
trouncing Clinton. •
The Midgets have beaten both Ex-
eter and Clinton. and the Juniors have
taken two close .games from Wing -
ham.
In the 043A Intermediate "B"
group, London Majors. have twice
trounced the Seaforth Bosharts and
put themselves right on the heels of
the leaders. The Tavistock club still
continue to dominate the league with
seven straight wins. They have not
yet been defeated in a league game.
Mark Pastmasters' Night
At Clinton Masonic Lodge
Past Masters' Night was observed
in Clinton Lodge, A.F. and A.M., No.
84, with the work of the evening it
second and' third degree, performed
by past masters.

Lucknow Post Office
Robbed of Stamps, Cash
Approximately $700 in stamps and
a small •tmrurt of cash was stolon
from a large safe in the Luclaiow
post office earl • yesterday when
thieves entered the bniiding through
a rear door, moved the safe to the
centre of the floor, and pried the
door from .its hiegrs. Entry was
made between two and three o'clock.
A 1933 Che".o;et coach was stolen
from its parking place on a street
about the same time as the break-in
is believed to have occurred. The car
was recovered, undamaged, in Wing -
ham early this afternoon. County
police are investigating. It has not
yet been determined whether or not
the car theft and post office robbery
are linked. The car belonged to Jack
McMillan, R. R. 1, Lucknow.
The safe is reported to have been
a large model, and police believe
that at least three men must have
helped to move it. Police are without
.
clues and the investigation is con-
tinuing.

Goderich Lions gained a firm hold
-on first place in the Juvenile "C"
hockey group when •they, trounced
Clinton Lions 12-2 in Clinton Arena
Friday evening last.
Bisset was the star of the game,
accounting for six of bis team's
goals. The Goderich team collected
five goals in the first period, two in
the second and five in the third.
Clinton got its tallies in the .second
frame. •

TROUNCE CLINTON
Goderich Midgets took a firm grip
of first place in the WOAIA Midget
group when they defeated Clinton
Midgets by 10-2 in Clinton Arena
last night. Nearly 100 Clinton fans
taw the local boys snowed under by
the fast -stepping Goderich aggrega-
tion.
The visitors were led by Price, who
accounted for five of his team's goals.
Close on his heels was Beacom, who
notched three counters. Fulford and
McPhail each counted one to give
Goderich ten goals.
Maltby and Matthews got the Clin-
ton counters, both in the second
period.
The only penalties in the game went
to Colquhoun of Clinton and Saunders
of Godh.

score on Woodstock Intermediate Le-
gion Club at Seaforth 'last evening,
but the fans saw plenty of action
while they were doing it. There were

Exeter Juveniles rapped in four
fast goals in the third' period to de-
feat Clinton Juveniles by 5-2 in
Exeter Monday evening. The gine
was played before nearly 200 ESceter
fans.
Hen nest', Musser, Tuckey and Hay-
ter scored the goals for Exeter while
Charlie Hanly got the lone Clinton
tally.
Charlie Hanly received a badly
injured leg when he came in contact
with the Exeter defence in the Clos-
ing stages of the game. He will likely
be out of hockey for the season. An-
other Clinton' casualty was Jerry El- •
liott who came out of the game with
a badly dislocated shoulder.
