At Road Intersection

Damage amounting to approx-
imately $200 was caused to two
ears at the 'corner of Telephone
Road and Concession 6, Goderich
Township, at 11 a.m., Oct. 16,
when a 1949 sedan owned by
"Clark Stanley, 'Clinton, collided
-with a`1937 pick-up truck own-
•ed by William Bender, 'Clinton.
The Stanley ear was proceed-
ing north on the concession road
end the Bender car from tho east
on the Telephone Road.

HYPE' Meet
The BYPU held their monthly
meeting on Friday evening. The
meeting was in charge of Frank
Raithby and Grant Reithby with
Grant presiding and Evelyn
Raithby at the piano. The Scrip-
ture was 'read by Mrs. Frank
Raithby; a solo was rendered by
Mrs. William Haggitt; a . reading
was given by Harold Raithby.
George Robertson gave the an-
nouncements. Sgt. William Raith-
by of Winnipeg, presented pic-
tures of Churchill, Man., and the
prairies.
Bible Society Meeting
The annual Bible Society meet-
ing was held in Knox Presby-
terian Muriel Sunday evening
with a good attendance. A union
choir with Arthur Yungblut pre-
siding at the organ, led in the
service of praise. A girls trio
from the London. Bible Institute,
rendered two numbers, and Rev
John Honeyman favored with a

showed that $177.81 had been
collected last year.

Church held a successful bazaar
and tea in the Sunday School
room on Saturday. A good crowd
was in attendance. The proceeds
of. the afternoon's .proceedings

phone's application for revised
rates filed in Ottawa with The
Board of Transport Commission-
ers for Canada, according to C.
B. Symonds, the company's man_
ager here.
• The proposed increase for in-
dividual line business service is
$1.90 monthly, while the propos-
ed rate for two-party business
service is $1.65 higher than at
present.
It is intended that the propos-
ed• rates shall apply to all stand-
ard types of telephones supplied
by the company.

Long Distance Rates
It is proposed to increase the
initial period chargefor long
distance calls by 5, 10 or 15 cents,
depending on the distance involv-
ed and on whether station -to -
station or person-to-person ser-
vice is requested. Some person-
to-person, night and Sunday calls
would be increased by 20 or 25
cents. There are no increases
for station -to -station calls be-
tween centres less than ten
miles apart.
