The regular meeting of Clinton
Women's Institute will be held in
the Board Room of the Agricul-
tural Office on Thursday after-
noon, June 23, at 2.3Q o'clock.
The report of the District An-
nual will be given. Arrange
meats will be made for the Grand-
mother's Day and picnic. All
members are urged to attend and

vention held at Hotel General

ronto, when their nephew, Robert

Presbyterian WA
Holds Good Meeting
The Girls' Club of Ontario St.
United Church met at the home
of Miss Ethel Thompson on Thurs-
day evening, June 9. The presi-
dent, Miss L. Grant, was in the
chair and Miss E. Wiltse presid-
ed at the piano.
The president gave psalm 91
as a (tall to worship and the de-
votional period followed. The
Lesson was read by Miss Judd
and Miss Courtice followed with
a reading "The Conquest of Fear."
Mrs. H. C. Lawson favoured with
a solo "The Kerry Dance" which
was much enjoyed.
The business discussion follow-
ed when it was decided to with-
drew the monthly meetings dur-
ing July and August. A shower
will be held on July 14 when
articles will be donated for the
Bazaar.
A Missionary reading was giv-
en by Mrs. Farnham, Mrs, D. J.
Lane gave an excellent talk on
"Women of the Bible" which
porved most interesting.
A lovely china cup and saucer
was presented by Mrs. M. Bat -
kin to Mrs. Cecil Ashton in view
of her approaching removal from
town. Mrs, Ashton, although
taken by surprise, made a fitting
reply. The meeting closed with
the Mizpah Benediction.
Lunch served by Miss Thomp-
son, Mrs. N, Tyndall, Miss H.
Courtice and Miss E. Plumsteel,
rounded out a very pleasant
evening.

Graduate from U of T
In addition to the list pub-
lished recently in The NEWS -
RECORD, several other students
from this district have been suc-
cessful in passing their university
examinations, ' with graduation
exercises held this week.
Ernest G. Clarke, son of Mr.
and Mrs, M. E. Clarke, Seaforth,
and grandson of Mr. and Mrs. E.
H. Epps, Clinton, secured first
class honours in Oriental Lang-
uages on graduation from Uni-
versity of Toronto, and will take
postgraduate work at the Univers-
ity, of Chicago.
Miss M. J. Houston, Auburn,
took second class honours in
Fourth Year Modern History at
University of Toronto.
John Woolfrey, son of Rev. and
Mrs, W. J. Woolfrey, Clinton,
graduated in the Pass Arts Course
at University of Toronto and is
entering a business career,
Donald B. Palmer, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Proctor Palmer, Clinton,
passed in Third Year in Dentistry
at University of Toronto,
Miss' Mary Elizabeth Lane,
daughter of Rev. Andrew and
Mrs. Lane, received second-class
honours in the Third Year of the
honour Bourse in English Lang-
uage and Literature at the Uni-
versity of Toronto. She is now
employed at Banff Springs Hotel,
in the Rocky Mountains, for the
summer,
Presbyterian WA
Holds Good Meeting
The WA of Clinton Presbyter-
ian Church met in the Church
Parlour on Tuesday afternoon,
June 7, with a good attendance.
The president, Mrs. Shaddock,
was in charge and Mrs. John
Snider was at the piano. A hymn
was sung and the president read
the 121st psalm and offered pray-
er. Mrs. Lane contributed a
beautiful solo.
The secretary -treasurer, Mrs.
Maxwell, read her reports and
reed a letter from a past member
now living in Toronto. A lengthy
discussion followed and last-
minute plans were made for the
annual bazaar which was held in
the Council Chamber on Satur-
day afternoon last.
Following the roll call a hymn
was sung end the Lord's Prayer
repeated in unison. A social half
hour followed with Mrs. Lane
and Mrs. Twitchell serving tea.

Brussels Girl Leads
In the girls' homemaking -club
contests top score for the day
went to Isabelle Speir, 17, Brus-
sels, who demonstrated her work
on two homemaking projects she
had completed this year -supper -
table techniques, and the making
of sleeping garments. Miss Speir
has now completed ten projects
in the homemaking club series
sponsored by the Women's In-
stitute branch of the Ontario De-
partment of Agriculture. As a
result she is eligible for a trip
to be arranged for county home-
making -club champions; it will
probably be an Eastern Canadian
bus tour, to include visits to Ot-
tawa and Montreal.
