led a lively sing song, with Miss
Gladys Colwell, , London, as ac-
eompanist. '
Rev. H. J. Snell Speaks
Special speaker for the occasion
was Rev. IL J. Snell, Exeter, He
is the only minister in Huron
at present who was born here,
ordained by the United Church
and now a minister in the Pres-
bytery. Mr. Snell's theme was
"Our Guiding Faith, and he spoke
on what the United Church could
and does mean to Young People.
He stressed the fact that it was
only as Young People developed
a faith of their own through con-
stant prayer and Bible study and
got away from totally depending
on the faith of their fathers to
see them through, that a new
and better Christian world could
be expected. Mr. Snell stated
that he felt that more than ever
Young People of to -day /were
becoming Faith Conscious" and
were wanting to do something
about it. He closed his remarks
by challenging everyone to make
the most of the opportunities giv-
en each one to show his faith to
a critical world, end to make the
most of our Faith so that when
the United 'Church celebrates 25
years of union in 1950, the Young
People may lead the church in
showing the world what our faith
really is.
.A splendid, film, "Beyond our
Own," was shown and this was
a fitting climax to Mr. Snell's
address, It pointed out how
sometimes it takes tragedy to
bring one to a full realization
of what a faith can mean,
Rev, H. .T. Mahoney installed
the new executive In a very im-
pressive manner,
