MAKES BETTER

Playing a return match on the
Town Hail courts, a team of seven
men and eight ladies represent-
ing Kincardine Badminton Club
defeated a team •representing
Clinton Badriuntorl Club 22 games
to 10, Tuesday evening.
Clinton captured the ladies'
doubles 5-3, but lost the men's
doubles 6-2, and the mixed
doubles: 1.3-3.
Following play, the. visitors
were entertained for refreshments
in the Board Room, Ontario De-
partment of Agriculture. H. B.
Magwood, Kincardine president,
expressed the thanks of the vis-
itors, Donald Symons, Clinton
vice-president, replying. Presi-
dent Charles Johnson expressed
thanks to J. C. Rem:ie for the
use of the Board Room. Miss
Helen Taylor was chairman of
the entertainment committee.

Exeter High Senool senor boys
won their way into WOSSA "B"
cage finals at Exeter Saturday,
afternoon, but .their cohorts in
the girls' division bowed out of

Axnherstburg boys defeated
Exeter 34-31, but lost the round
by 76-64, ' O'Brien was the big
gun for the winners, netting 18
points. Rether and Hunter-Duvar
also looked good for Exeter.
In the girds' contest, Exeter
scored an impressive 24-17 win
but lost out to Amehrstburg girls,
51-41 on the round.

Juniors Advance to Finals
CCI Juniors won the right on
Thursday, March 17, to advance
into the WOSSA "B" basketball
finals by defeating Hanover Jun-
iors in .the semi-finals, Clinton
Juniors lost the first game of a
home -and -home • series in Han-
over by 11-8. However, they came
back to defeat,Hanover by 21.3
in Clinton, thus winning the
round 29-14,
The Juniors now meet De La
Salle Juniors, London, in a sud-
den -death game for the champ-
ionship. 'This game will be play-
ed at the H. B. Beal Technical
School, London, at 7 p.m. on Sat-
urday, March 26.

Lose at Hanover
Clinton Juniors :lost the first
game of a home -and -home series
to Hanover on Tuesday, March
15. The game was played in
Hanover with the final score be-
ing 11-8. This was the first game
in the semi-finals for the WOSSA
championship.

New Trophy to OMHA
Ontario Minor Hockey Assoc-
iation will place four new trophies
In competition for this year's
play,
Three of the trophies , will be
for champions of the new juven-
ile "D", midget "D" and bantam
"D" series. The fourth will go
to the runners-up in the midget
"A" series.
For the juvenile "D" series, the
award will be known es the Jack
L. Christie Trophy. The midget
"D" trophy will be the A. P. Me-
Avoy Memoriel Trophy, in mem-
ory of the fete A. P. McAvoy,
former second vice-president of
the association. The bantam "D"
trophy will be the Ken G. Waters
Trophy, named for the immediate
past president of the organiza-
tion, an ex -Mayor of Clinton,
now living in Toronto,
Hullett Township
Forum Has Social
A very enjoyable evening was
spent at the home of Mr. and
Mrs, Albert Glazier on Monday
evening, March 21, when the
Farm Forum of S.S, No. 1, Hul-
lett, celebrated its last meeting
of the season, by all the members
contributing to a very bounteous
supper, the main item on the
menu being oysters. Sixteen
members and four children were
present, The remainder of the
evening was spent in playing
euchre, "500," end Chinese check-
ers.
EBENEZER
The March 15 meeting of Eb-
enezer YPU was held at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Hebden,
It was in charge of Lois Jones
and was opened by singing hymn
146, Grace, Lobb read the Scrip-
ture after which Doug Jones read
the Devotional topic. The min-
utes were read and adopted.
Hymn 255 was sung, followed by
topic by Jack Tebbutt. Hymn
239 was sung and the meeting
was closed by repeating the'Miz-
peh Benediction. After the meet-
ing the recreation committee took
charge.

an attack of pneumonia. We hope

for some time, returned to the

rin Howson, much improved but
at time of writing is not so well,

Confined to His Bed
A. Murray has been confined
M his bed for the past week and
is under the doctor's care, but
we hope soon to see him out again.
Thefts From Oars
Car owners will be well ad-
vised to keep their cars under
lock and key. Several of the
villagers who have been using
the community shed as a garage,
had their cars looted one night
lest week, depriving them of bat-
teries, heaters, rugs, tools and
other gadgets too numerous to
mention. As yet no trace of any-
one or. anything has been seen.

The United Church held its
annual meeting on Wednesday
evening of last week, good re-
ports were heard from the var-

Woman Fatally Hurt
In Highway Accident
Mrs, Annie Shields, 75, died in
Alexandra Hospital, Goderich,
Monday morning, March 21, from
injuries received in an accident
Sunday when a car driven by
her grandson, Brian Ainslie, 22,
Goderich, was in collision with
the rear of a car driven by John
L. Donovan, RCAF, Centralia, on
King's Highway 4, two miles
south of Exeter.
Mrs. Shields, a passenger in the
Ainslie car, suffered two broken
legs and scalp lacerations and
Brian Ainslie, leg lacerations.
Formerly Annie Dobie, Mrs,
Shields was born in England. She
came to Canada 69 years ago and
lived in Colborne Township and
Goderich, Her husband, Thomas
A. Shields, died 14 years ago.

closed ' with prayer. A social
hour was spent.
