Miss Maude McGregor, who re-
turned home from Clinton Pub-
lic Hospital a week ago Sunday
is recuperating nicely.

er, Mrs. William Sturgeon from
Tuesday until Thursday of last

Mr. and Mrs. Jack Peese, Lloyd

ran, London, spent a weekend
recently with Mr. and Mrs.
Charles Berry.
John McKenzie who is attend-
ing the University of Toronto,
is spending the. Christmas vaca-
tion with his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. J. McKenzie.
Mr. eand Mrs. Earl Stotesbury
and small son, Douglas, Saskat-
chewan, arrived on. Wednesday
night to spend six weeks with
the former's father Rev. F. G.
Stotesbury.
Knox VMS Meets
Knox Church Women's Mission-
ary Society met at the home of
Miss Greer on December 9, when
the following officers were ap-
pointed for the year 1949: Presi-

The Chrisbnas service of Holy

Lions Club Meets
Bayfield Lions Club met for its
regular dinner meeting in The,
Little Inn, Bayfield. with first
vice-president Td Mack in the
chair. Grant Turner acted as
song leader for the evening.
During the business period ar-
rangements were completed for
the Christmas activities, among
which included a visit to the vil-
lage from Santa Claus himself.
Durng the evening that jolly old
gentlemen appeared causing a
great deal of merriment, and also
introducing the new Santa Claus
costume. .

ship, and Mr. Nelson, teacher at
Front Road School, were guests
at the meeting.
S. S. Entertainment
The Sunday school entertain-
ment took place in the United
Church basement on Friday even-
ing last with a good attendance
and an interesting program pro-
vided for the most part by the
children, with Rev. F. � Stotes-
bury in the chair, the evening
began with ten minutes of carol
singing by the audience. This
was followed by several mem-
bers from the Front Road' school,
under the. direction of their
teacher, Mr. Nesbit, viz. a group
song,. "I've got the Rheumatiz"
and a play "The Rest Room." The
Blue Water school contributed
two drills, the Milktriaidts Drill,
and a Soldier's Drill by eight
girls, with music provided by
Mrs. Russel Grainger at the piano
and several voices singing. There
were also a number of recitations.
Another„.group gave a couple of
numbers, "The Story of Christs
mas" and "Santa and his Brown-
ies," also several songs and re-
citations. At the close Santa and
his Brownies and other helpers
distributed gifts to everyone end

when the pupils under the lead-
eyship of their teacher, Miss
Dougall, presented an excellent
and varied program to an ap-
preciative audience, During the
program a draw was made for
the Junior. Red Cross quilt and
it was won by Ken Caldwell?,
Santa arrived end distributed
gifts, candy, oranges and apples
to all the children? •

Oleo Restrictions
Ontario Federation of Agricul-
ture has suggested prohibition of
yellow coloring in margarine,. a
federal tax on butter substitutes
and a tariff on imported oils
used in making margarine,
R. A. Stewart, Almonte, feder-
ation president, announced the
group's views following en ex-
ecutive meeting. He added:
"Farmers want removal of the
ceiling price on butter and a
protected floor price on butter
for several years. They also want
opening of all 'United States Mar-
ket for all dairy products .• . .
