CENTRALIA RCAF
BOWS TO COLTS;
DRAPER'S 5 RUNS
Clinton Colts had little diffi-
culty in racking up their 14th
victory of the season by defeat-
ing Centralia RCAF here Monday
evening 17-5. The visitors were
short several of their regulars who
were absent on leave, while Colts,
although full strength, put a
couple of younger players in the
lineup to give them experience,
Len Johnson and Bill "Blondy"
Cools shared the mound duties
for Colts, the former five frames
and the latter three. Both did a
fair job, although not hacked by
the usual Colt brand of support
in the field. Several went for
'safe hits where they might have
been snagged. Laurie Colquhoun
and Norm Wilson shared the
catching duties, and Hugh Haw-
kins made his periodic appear-
ance as a pinch -hitter in the
eighth. He poled a -fly out to
right field.
Art Cook pitched five innings
for "the visitors, and gave way in
the sixth to Hu-Chala, who had
been playing first. The former
Iwas nicked pretty heavily in the
fourth when seven hits produced
six Fuss and put the game on ice
for Colts.
Draper again shone at bat with
a homer, a triple, and a single,
on which he made home when
the left -fielder failed to block.
His homer .was with the bases
loaded in the sixth. He also walk-
ed and was hit by pitcher and
scored five runs, which is some-
what of a record. "Bud" Schoen-
hals also had a four -bagger in
the fourth. Len Johnson had
three safeties in three times, two
of them coming in one inning,
the fourth when 12 batters faced
the music.

BALL AT EXETER
Clinton RCAF squeezed out a
2-1 win over Exeter in a Huron -
Perth Baseball League match at
Exeter Thursday evening last.
The tilt was a replay of an earlier
tie game between the two clubs.
Ross Morton, on the mound for
Exeter, and Murphy, who did the
pitching for the Airmen, were
ocked in a tight mound duel all
thehits. way. Morton was touched for
seven hits and he whiffed 11.
Murphy gave up eight scattered
Exeter got a run in the first,
ut couldn't hit the scoresheet
iter that. The Airmen picked
p a run in the fifth, and knotted
the winning one in. the seventh.
Holdersl'iaw led the RCAF bat-
ters with three singles in four
tries. Boyle and Howie Holtzman
got two hits apiece for the losers.
