' Club Holds Plenic
The London Road Club held,
its annual picnic at Jowett's
Grove, Bayfield, on Thursday,
July 15, Owing to the busy time
there were not as many present
as usual,
Mrs, Ralph Scott and Mrs. A.
Wiltse conducted a programme
of, races, contests, etc., which re-
sulted as follows: Birthday near-
est the picnic, Irene Batkin; mix-
ed children's race, under ten;
Bruce Bowden, Hamilton; kicking
the slipper, Harry Plumsteel;
mysterious person, 'Mrs, Bill Wat-
kins; candy contest, Bruce Baw-
den; dropping clothes pins,
Fred Anderson; choosing a part-
ner, Mrs. Watkins, Fred LeBeau;
wearing most buttons, Mrs. Clegg;
elimination contest, Judy.Watkins,
During the afternoon the mem-
bers and children were treated
to a very enjoyable boat ride by
Fred LeBeau.
The ladies provided baskets fil-;
led with everything to tempt the
appetite and concluded with' a
generous helping of ice cream.
The afternoon was greatly enjoy-
ed by all present,
The August meetingwill be
held at the home of Mrs. Harry
Plumsteel. Thisbeing the grand_
mother's Meeting, as many as pos-
sible will be expected to attend.
A pot luck supper will be served.

Rev. and Mrs. H. M. Langford,
Walkerville, were at their cottage
for a couple of days the first of
the week. Their daughter, Mrs.
R. Bricker, and Miss Susan, who
were here for a few days, return-
ed to Waterloo on Monday.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Johnston
and little daughter, Grace Eileen,
and Miss Pearl Gellman spent
Sunday with Mrs. Johnston's par-
ents, Mr. and Mrs.' Ed Beaver,
Zurich, where they celebrated the
little girl's first birthday. The
table was centred with a birthday
cake with one lighted candle.

S.S. 4 Club Entertains
The S.S. No. 4 Comznunity Club
entertained the Porter's Hill. Club
at the school house last Wednes-
day. There was a good attend-
ance and two quilts were quilt_
ed Mrs. W. Forbes conducted a
contest. Lunch was served in
picnic style on the school lawn.
Collection was taken for the Hos-
pital Fund.

W.A. Meets
The regular meeting of the
W.A. was held on Tuesday, July
6, with the president in the chair,
The devotional part of the meet-
ing was conducted by Mrs. Stan-
way. The business was in charge
of the president, Miss E. Bowey,
Mrs. B. Thompson and Mrs. A.
Ham were appointed flower com-
mittee for July. It was decided
to have our next meeting in the
form of a picnic on the church
lawn. Mrs:. R. Scott conducted
a contest. Attendance was 21,
W.M,S. Holds Meeting
The regular meeting of the
W.M.S. was held in the school
room on Tuesday, July 13. In the
absence of Mrs. W. Scott, open-
ing devotions were taken by the
President, Mrs. H. Dalrymple,
Scripture readings were taken
by Mrs. It Aikenhead, Miss Edith
Bowey and Miss M. Swan. The
programme "The church follows
the Japanese Children" was in
charge of Nil's. A. Zapfe, who was
assisted by Mrs. E. R. Stanway
and Miss Bowey. Next month
the W,M,S, plans to entertain the
Mission Band and Baby Band.

Members of the Cameron fam-
ily and friends gathered at Lions
Park, Seaforth, Monday evening,
for a picnic to meet Mr. and Mrs.
Mei Lamport, of Alberni, B.0 ,
who are visiting friends in the
district. .After a delicious sup-
per all took part in a program
of sports under the direction of
Mrs. William Henry. Following

MMS and WA Meet
The July meeting of Holmes-
ville RIMS was held at the home
of Mrs. P. Palmer, with Mrs.
Freeman in charge. A chapter
of the Study Book was read by
the leader. A short meeting of
the W.A. followed under the lead-
ership of Mrs. Bond, in the ab-
sence of the president who was
unable to be present. Several
matters of business were discus-
sed, after which• a lovely lunch
was served by the hostesses, Mrs.
Palmer and Mrs, Bond. It was
decided some time ago to cancel
the August meeting.

Mrs. W. 'iggin entertained the
Ebenezer W.A.
at her home for
the July meeting. The president,
Mrs. F. Jones, presided at the
meeting, which was opened with
a Hymn, followed by the Lord's
Prayer in unison. leollow!ng roll
call, the minutes of the previous
meeting were read and adopted.
The Scripture reading was giv-
en by Mrs. J. Merrill; Mrs. Tav-
ener led in prayer. Three poems
were read following the business
discussion. The meeting was
closed with a Hymn, followed by
the Mizpah Benediction. Mrs. J.
Merrill conducted a contest. The
hostess served delicious refresh-
ments. The August meeting will
be held at the home of Mrs.
Harry Oakes.
