Support Needed to Continue
Worthwhile Community Work
The big event of next week in
this district is the second annual
Carnival of Bayfield Lions Club,
which will be staged in Lions
Park, Bayfield, formerly the
Agricultural Park, on Wednes-
day evening next, .Tiny 28.
Proceeds of the Carnival will,
be used by the Lions Club to
carry on and extend welfare work
in the community which has been
undertaken since the organization
of the Club a year and a halt ago.
A year ago, the Lions Club
leased the former Agricultural
Park for a term of years, and in
the meantime, has spent several
hundreds of dollars in worthwhile
improvements, such as electric
wiring, grading the race track, etc.
An open air skating rink for the
children was operated very suc-
cessfully last year.
One of the projects of the Club
is to improve the skating rink
during next winter, and also to
make necessary repairs to the
building.
The Lions Club also has assist-
ed Hayfield's new volunteer Fire

Gala Carnival
In order to raise funds for
these various projects, as well as
others, the Club has in mind, this
second annual Carnival is being
conducted., It will open Wednes-
day evening next with a fastball
match at seven o'clock between
two top district teams.
The formal opening of the Car-
nival will take place at eight
o'clock, with a great variety of
games of skill, bingo, pony rides
and other amusements for old and
young alike, in full play. The
Forest City Shows will be on
hand with their kiddie ride,chair-
o-plane, and other attracions.
A big feature that proved very
successful last year was, open air
dancing to the music of a good
orchestra.
Throughout the evening, Gode-
rich Bluewater Band will render
a deligthful band concert, and
add to the festivities.
The draw for seven beautiful
and valuable prizes will take
place at midnight in Lions Park.
The prizes include: lst, Westing-
house radio, valued at $55; 2nd,
girl's or boy's bicycle; 3rd, oven-
ette; 4th, pair of wool blankets;
5th, sheepskin rug; 6th, electric
broiler; 7th, walnut cake platter.
