Armwell Mission :Circle is hav-
ing its June meeting in the form
of a quilting in the basement of
the church on Tuesday afternoon,
June 1." There will be two .quilts
to be quilted sand;everyone' is in-
vited. There will be lunch served
at the close.

WA Meets
The WA held its May meeting
in the basement of the church on
Thursday, afternoon when a quilt
was quilted. The meeting opened
with the president, Mrs. Laura
Saundercock, in the chair. Hymn
No. 1 was sung, followed by the
Lord's Prayer. Minutes of the
last meeting were read by the,
secretary, Mrs. L. Pipe. Lettere
of appreciation were read from
Mrs. Robert Wells, Mrs. Stanley
Lyon, Robert Townsend. Mrs. E,
Lyon, Mr, Hayward. The pro-
gram committee for June, Mrs,
J. Nott, Mrs. Robert Youngblutt.
The following program was then
presented: "'cornet solo by Phyllis
McCool; reading by Mrs. Robert
Fairservice; reading by Miss L.
Young. The Scripture reading
was given by Mrs. Saundercock,
followed by prayer. The meeting
closed with hymn 181. There were
27 present. The hostesses then
served a lovely lunch:.

Congratulations to Mrs. Watson
Reid and her pupils of S.S. No. 11,
Hullett, also to their music teach-
er, Mrs. E. Wendorf, Clinton, for
their success at the recent music
festival in Goderich. Although
they were not allowed to make
so many entries this year, they
obtained the following standing'
Hullett girls' chorus, 85 marks, 1st;
Hallett boys' chorus, 83 marks,
3rd; boys solo, 1-9 years, Buster
Shaddick, 80 marks, thereby ob-
taining a certificate; two-part
chorus, 83 marks: 4th in class of
21; double trio, 83 marks, 2nd in
class of 15; unison chorus, 86
marks, 1st in class of 25, for this
chorus they won the shield.
PORTER'S HILL
Miss Phyllis Harris, London,
was home for the holiday week-
end.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Harris visited
relatives in London over the
weekend.
Albert Morgan, Goderich, spent
the weekend with Mr. and Mrs.
Maurice Frame.

Community Club
Mr"s. James Cox gave her home
for the May meeting of the Com-
munity Club which was held on
Wednesday afternoon with 14
ladies present. The president..
Mrs, J. A. Torrance, presided, and
opened the meeting with singing
"God Save the King," followed
by the Lord's Prayer. The min-
utes of the Iast meeting were read
and adopted. Membership fees
were handed in and each member
drew the month in which she
would have the meeting. A lengthy
discussion followed and it was
decided to make a quilt. A buy-
ing committee of Mrs. Argyle
Lockhart and Mrs. Don Harris
was added to the list of officers.
The meeting closed, after which
the hostess served a delicious
lunch. The next meeting to be
held at the horn of Mrs. Alvin
Betties.

The May meeting of Summerhill
Ladies' Club was held at thehome
of Mrs. William Jenkins.: The
meeting opened by . singing "The
Maple Leaf Forever," followed by
the Lord's Prayer. Roll call and

After discussing the business,
Mrs. Keith Tyndall favoured with
an instrumental, Mrs. Clarence
Ball gave a reading,, "Be a Help-'

NOTICE is hereby given that pursuant to the provis-
ions of the ,Election Act (Section 88) a poll will
be opened. on •
Friday and Saturday, .the 4th and 5th
days of June, from eight o'clock' in the
forenoon until five o'clock in the after-
noon and from seven o'clock in the after-
noon until ten o'clock in the afternoon,
(Daylight Saving Time).
The polling places for the Electoral District of Huron
will be located at the TOWN BALL in GODERIOR,
and the TOWN HALL in CLINTON, for the purpose
of receiving the votes of railway employees, sailors
and travellers allose employment is such as to neces-
sitate their absence from time to tilme from their
ordinary place of residence, ' or who have reason to
believe that they will be absent upon the clay fixed"
for the election. t
The ballot box will be opened and the votes counted at
7 o'clock (Daylight Saving Time) in the -afternoon of
Monday, the 7th day of June, 1948, at the said- place.
