Clinton Town Softball League'
-which; operated successfuliyrthst
in 1945—has been re -organized
for the coming season in an ef-
fort to develop players. A meet-
ing for this purpose was held in
the Town Council Chamber Mon-'
day evening.
The League will consist of three
teams—North, from north of High-,
way 8; South, from south of
• Highway 8; and RCAF Station.
Fred MacDonald is manager of
the North team with Gordon Ross
es coach, while William Fulford,
is manager of the South team
with Clarence Cooper as coach,

evening for a softball' game with
the Seaforth Boys; winning 20-9.
Batteries for 'Clinton: were Alvin
Fowler and Ronald Carter; and
for Seaforth, J. Stewart and J.
Flannagan.
Clinton Boys were out in front
all the way, holding their oppon-
ents to two runs until the final
inning. The winners had a big
inning in the fifth when nine runs
crossed the plate. 'Bob Carrick
and Bob Elliott completed two
double plays.

Mr. White told the boys they
ought to appreicate what is be,

where the Lions; are interested in
developing hockey. Recalling
when 'Doug Bartliff played for
Stratford juniors, he said there
never had been a finer boy than
Doug and mentioned his good
playing against Oshawa. Bob
Carrick also played' baseball ib
Stratford, he recalled.
G, Morley Counter expressed
the thanks of the gathering to the
visitors.
Dr. Shaw spoke briefly,recal-
ling the fact that he had played',
on an Ontario champiosnhip ball'
team as a boy. (This was news
to most of those present,) He ad..
vised plenty of sleep, don't smoke.

Trophy Presented
The beautiful trophy was pre-
sented by the donor, Glen John-
ston, who said it was great to be
champions but there was always
honour in defeat. Clare Maltby.
captain of the Bantams, received
the trophy.

and Russell L. Holmes, chairman
of the Sports Committee, were in
charge of distribution of sweaters.'
Each boy also received a group
photograph of the team. 'Inad-
dition to the players, Bill Count-
er, Bantam coach, Doug Bartliff,
Midget• coach, and Lyle McKee,
secretary, were similarly hon-
oured.
Hugh Hawkins mentioned that
"Red" Garon,'- Russell Holmes and
"Dick" Jacob, had done a par-
ticularly good job.
, Gerald Holmes spoke in behalf
of the Bantam team, expressing,
the hearty thanks of the boys to
the Liors Club, and also to Bill
Counter, Lyle McKee and "Red"
Garon.
Clare Maltby, who also played
Midget, spoke in behalf of thtl
Midget team, mentioning espec-
ially the appreciation of the boys
for the efforts of Coach Doug
Bartliff,
R. E. Holmes thanked Hugh
Hawkins and the members of the
Sports Committee for their co-op-
eration during the season.
