Prompt Action Saves
House in Bayfield
(By our Bayfield correspondent)
Prompt action on the part of
LAC Gerald Leenirandi, who is
occupying J. E. Howard's house
on Louisa Street, Bayfield, pos-
sibly saved the house from be-
ing gutted by fire on Sunday
morning,
An overheated stove pipe' in
the living room was the cause
of the fire which broke out
about a quarter past eight when
•beaverboard in between wooden
lath and gyproc ignited from the
red hot pipe. Mr. Lamiren'di
managed to throw some water
up around the pipe hole which
went through the ceiling and
temporarily dampened the blaze;
then he pulled some of the gyp -
roc off the ceiling with a poker
and extinguished it with a pail
of water. Mrs. Lamirandi was
upstairs dressing
their to get them out hhouse
while her husband battled. the
fire.
An arm in o
Blayfield fire brigade bu before
the engine had arrived, Mr.
Lamirandi reported to the gath-
ering firemen that the fire was
out.
