MEETS IN'GOSHEN
UNITED CHURCH
The Centre Section of the WNIS
of •Huron Presbytery of United
Church of Canada held its annual
meeting in Goshen United Church
on Wednesday, ' October 11, at
9.30 a.m.
'IThe' vice-presiden,t Mrs. Rob-
ert Allan, Brucefield, was in the
chair and Mrs. James A. McGill,
Clinton, was secretary.
The morning session opened
with the Doxology and Invoca-
tion, 'and' hymn 488 after' which
Mrs. A. S. McMurray and Mrs.
A. Holmes, of Ontario St.
Church, Clinton, conducted a
worship service, taking St. John
14: 1-14, for their Scripture
reading.
Mrs. Anson McKinley, Goshen,
welcomed the delegates and
guests and this wat responded to
by Mrs. J. Hillebrecht, Seaforth.
Committee, as follows, were
appointed: Resolution and court-
esy, Mrs. H. C. Wilson, Mrs. A.
Gardner and Mrs. Close; Nom-
inating committee, Mrs. W. Zaphe,
Brucefield; Finance committee,
Mrs. Taman; Delegate to Con-
ference branch, Mrs. A. McMur-
ray; transportation of delegate to
be paid by section.
The treasurer reported a de-
crease in givings to date.
The offering was received and
Mrs. Lindsay of Constance, led
in prayer. The various organiza-
tions reported for their year's
work, and these reports were
adopted on motion of Mrs. E,
Mills,
A trumpet solo by Mrs.' Mc-
Bride was greatly enjoyed, and a
hymn 479, "God loved the World
of Sinners Lost," was sung.

supply work before the meeting,
reporting bales to the value of

of inelian Residential School, Ed-
monton, and to Saskatchewan

of $13. She also spoke of Korea's
great need for plain clothing,
'soap, etc. Miss Mary Martin, of
India, spoke . of Campaign for
Building Fund for United Church
Training School, which will be
put before us in April 1952.
Mrs. Hillebrecht presented the
literature, showing a wide range
of books on Canada and Home
Missions,
Mrs. Roy Lawson, of Seaforth,
reported, for Christian Citizen
ship and Temperance. She stat-
ed that Qhristian Citizenship and
Home Missions go hand in hand.
She told of 4,000 women jailed
in .1950 for drinking: The pres-
ent craze for gambling • which
ha"s seized our people was deeply
deplored and church women urg-
ed tb make a strong stand against
it.
Mrs. H. Kirkby read a letter
from the Temperance Federation
re: their present problems.
After singing `Jesus, keep me
near the Cross," Mrs. F. Tamblyn
closed the meeting with pfayer,
And the women of Goshen serv-
ed a delicious dinner.
Mrs. Orval Harrison and Mrs.
Ken Lutington, of Moncrief, con-
ducted the worship service in the
afternoon period. Mrs. E. Mills
spoke on the responsibility of
Christian Stewardship, urging a
strong advance and spoke of the
needs of French Protestantism at
Point au Trembles. A duett by
Mrs. R. Peck, Zurich, and Mrs.
E. Hayter, Goshen, was much
enjoyed,
Miss Mary Martin, a returned
missionary from Central India,
was the guest speaker, and
brought many interesting facts
as to conditions in India.
The offering was received and
Mrs. Knight offered prayer:
Mrs. H. Kirkby, the Presby-
terial president, spoke, urging a
wider use of the Blue book, and
advised making the supply work
a congregational project. She told
