75th Anniversary
On the 14th and 21st of this
month special 75th anniversary
services will be held in United
Church. Speakers will be Rev.
E. R. Stanway and Rev, Dr, J,
H. Arnup. A fowl supper is be-
ing planned las well as other
special evenings during the week,
Bride -elect Feted
Friends gathered in the Sun-
day School room of the church
on Friday evening lest, to hon-
our Miss Miarion Paterson, bride -
elect of this week, at a shower.
Feature of the evening was a
mock wedding which was much
enjoyed, The charming bride,
Miss Martha McDonald, gowned
in sleeveless pink crinkle crepe
and matching veil, entered on.

bride and Mrs. Doreen Baird, best
man. Miss Eva Stackhouse per-
formed the ceremony despite the
weeping of the bride's mother,
Miss Ruth. Scott Following this,
Marion was asked "to sit in the
chair of honour and after a short
address read by Miss Blanche
Zapie, was presented with many
beautiful gifts. Refreshments were
served to about 90 guests.
Drucefield WA Meets
The Woman's Association of
Brucefield United Church met on
October 2. The meeting opened
by singing hymn 469. Mrs. Ro-

Mrs. Henry Ai'dwinclde left
recently on a six months' trip to
England.

"The Great Supper." Hymn No.
469 was sung, followed by pray-
er by Mrs. R, Allan. The Creed
was repeated in unison. Mrs. Wil-
son read the minutes of The last
meeting. The roll call was an-
sweredby a Thanksgiving pray-
er. -Mrs. H. Berry gave the treas-
urer's report, after which plans
.were made for the anniversary.
The meeting closed with hymn
No. 364, and' prayer. Group 3
entertained us with a reading by
Mrs. Dayman end a contest by
Mrs. McBeth, followed by a de-
licious Iunch.

Mr. and Mrs. Gormley Thomp-
son, Brampton, spent the week-
end with friends here. Mr. and
Mrs._ Herb Mogridge, who have
been visiting Mr. and Mrs.
Thompson, returned home with
them.
Home From Hospital
Mrs. Donald Fowler, who un-
derwent a tonsil operation in
Alexandra Hospital, Goderich,
returned home last Saturday.

and Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Lawson
wlere in London Saturday where
they attended the rugby game
between Queen's University and
University of Western Ontario.
Eric Mcllveen was one of the
players for Queen's.

Successful Anniversary
t Successful anniversary services
were held in Knox United
Church last Sunday. The guest
speaker, Rev, H. C. Wilson, Clin-
ton, preached two impressive ser-
mons. The choir with Mrs. R. D.
Munro presiding at the organ,
and Miss Margaret Jackson at the
piano, led in the service of praise
and rendered two anthems, and
Mrs. Emmerson Rodger sang a
solo at each service.
The choir were robed in their
new gowns, wine in color with
white collars, Baskets of autumn
flowers adorned the sanctuary.
Young Couple Feted
A social time and dance was
enjoyed to the music of Athol
Bruce orchestra in the Forester's
Hall Friday evening in honor
of Bill Craig and his bride, the
former Aileen Castle; Goderich.
Keith Arthur read an address
prepared by Dr. B. C, Weir, hon-
orary president of the A.A.A..
while Bill Patterson presented a
purse of money; also those repre-
senting the Clinton Colts were
present and Hugh Hawkins, man-
ager of the team, spoke briefly
on Bill's value to them and wish-
ing the best for him at college
and the future. Mr. Livermore
and R. J. Craig made the pres-
entation of a beautiful walnut
table.
Bill made a fitting reply. Lunch
was served.
