Gives Anniversary Gift
The WA of St. Andrew's Pres-
byterian Church held the Octob-
er meeting at the home of Mrs.
Cudmore. Mrs. Shaddock, the
president, conducted the opening
exercises and Mrs. Lane led in
prayer.
After the reading of the treas-
urer's report it was dgpided to
make a contribution to the Board
of Managers for the church an-
niversary. A committee was ap-
pointed to arrange floral decora-
tions for the month of October.
At the conclusion of the meet-
ing,refreshments were served by
Mrs. Cudmore, assisted by Mrs.
Gawley and Mrs. Lane.
The Girls' Club of Wesley-
WrTlis Church will meet at the
home of Miss Winnie O'Neil on
Tuesday, Oat, 16. 1VIts, Lorne
Jervis' group will be in charge
of the program.

Bride -elect Feted
Prior to Marriage
Miss Edith Pepper, an early
October bride, was the guest of
honour at a shower held last week
at the home of Mrs, Frank Walt-
ers, Tuckeramith Township.
During the evening a varied
entertainment was presented. Mrs.
Howard Johns, Mrs, Eldon O'-
Brien, Mrs. Gregor McGregor
contributed readings; Misses
Carol Pepper and Barbara Lay-
ton, a duet; Mrs. E. Crich, a piano
solo. Mrs. Ed Layton, Miss Helen
Rogerson, Mrs. William Pepper
and Mrs. Bert Garrett enacted an
amusing playlet, entitled "School-
days."
Those taking parts in the mock
wedding ceremony were Mrs.
Norris Siilery. Mrs. Ed Layton,
Miss Helen Ferguson, Mrs. Bent
Garrett, Miss Margaret Rogerson,
Mrs. Mervin Falconer, and Mrs.
William Pepper. Their costumes
end acting added much to the
merriment of the occasion.
A chair, topped by a gaily
decorated `shower" umbrella,
was provided for Miss Pepper,
while she opened the many gifts
presented to her. She was assist-
ed by Misses Helen and Margaret
Rogerson.
Miss Pepper thanked the group
for their lovely gifts and their
hospitable hostess. Refreshments
and a social time rounded out -the
evening.
CWL Plans Many
Fine Activities
Miss Mary Phelan, Blyth, was
hostess to the October meeting
of the Catholic Women's League
of St. Michael's Church, Blyth,
and St. Joseph's Church, Clinton.
Miss Patricia Morrison, president,
opened the meeting with prayer.
League by-laws were reed by
Mrs. George Corbett in the ab-
sence of Mns. J. D. Wilson.
It was decided that Christmas
cards would be sold again this
year as a. means of raising money
for the League treasury. A
bingo will be held when a
raffle for five turkeys will be
held. Miss Phelan, Blyth, and
Mrs. Irene Henri, were named as
the ticket committee in charge.
A mystery -box prize, donated by
Miss Eileen Tighe, was won by
Miss Rhea Desjardins.
Sub -captains named to inform
members personally of the meet-
ings were Mrs. W. E. Menaghan,
Mrs. Alvin Sharp, Mrs. Hall -
alien and Mrs. Dorothy Healey,
The visiting committee named
for October was Mrs. Lloyd Medd
and Mrs. Joseph Flynn.
The social committee for the
meeting was Mrs. Theo Flynn and
Mrs. A, Shanahan, with the lunoh
committee as Mrs. Lawrence
Denomme, Mrs. Mary Swinbank
and Mrs. Levine Heffron.
The Women's Missionary So-
ciety of St. Andrew's Presbyter-
ian Church will hold its thank -
offering meeting October 16 at
three o'clock at the home of Mrs.
G. W. Nott.

Holds Good Meeting
The October meeting of the
WA of Wesley -Willis Church
was held in the parlour on the
afternoon of Oat. 4. The presi-
dent, Mrs, George Beattie. was
in the chair, Mrs., -Ii, Charles-
worth was pianist.
The opening hymn was "0
Jesus, Thou art outstanding," fol-
lowed by the ,Lord's. Prayer in
unison. .The subject of the de-
votional period was "The Great
Supper:' Mrs. Will Vo'dden read,
the Scriptures from St. Luke's
gospel, 4th chapter. Miss Winnie
O'Neil gave Lesson Thoughts,
and Mrs. F. Fingliaiid offered
prayer.
The minutes of the last meet-
ing were read by the secretary,
Mrs. Frank Fingland; and the
reasurer, Mrs. A. E. Shaddick,
gave the financial report. Mets.
Fred Potter gave the flower re-
port, and Mrs. Cliff Cooper read
some thank -you notes from those
who had received the flowers.
Mrs. John Innes said all the choir
gowns were now completed and
received the thanks of the WA
for her work on them, A new
range was ordered for the manse
kitchen. Plans were completed
for the "Country Pair" of Os -
toter 27; also for a turkey din
her to be served to the I005'
on October 17. A hymn and the
Mizpeh benediction closed the
meeting, after which afternoon
tea was served by the members
of Mrs. Douglas Bantliff's group.
