Public School Reopens Hensall Public School re -open- ed Tuesday, September 4, with 120 on the roll, and 18 beginners in grade 1. The staff will 'in- diude Principal J. F. Blackwell, Miss R. Avery, Miss Winifred Gray, and Miss Margaret Schieck, Alma, assistants. This will be the first term for Miss Schieck. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Fitzger- ald and family, London, were weekend visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Mathew Tinney, Passes in Dakota Archie Parsons received word Saturday of the death of his aunt, Mrs. Margaret Seymour, Patrick, N.D., whose death took place very suddenly Thursday, August 30. The former. Margaret Ryckman, she was born near Chiselburst and was well known in this sec- tion. Following her marriage to her late husband, Albert Sey- mour, she moved to Dakota where they farmed, retiring a few years ago, Surviving are four sons and four daughters; two brothers, Archie Ryclonan, Exeter, Fran- cis Ryekman, Hensall; a sister, Mrs. Robert Parsons died Feb- ruary of this year. Mrs. Sey- mour was in her 68th year, Congratulations! At the Grand American Trap Shoot held at Vandalia, Ohio, John Anderson, Hansen, hit 94 out of 100 handicap targets which Special Notice to Employers AND Those Enlisting in Armed Forces By The •Veterans Benefit Act, 1951, passed at the last session of Parliament, the Government -of Canada has extended and made applicable the provisions of the Reinstatement in Civil Employment I Act, 1946, to all persons enlisting in the Regular Forces of Canada r G after July 5, 1950, (nineteen fifty) and who serve therein for a term not exceeding three years. This provision extends also to members of the Special Force who re-engage for service with the Regular Forces, the three-year coverage period beginning with the date of re-engagement. This provision extends also to members of the Reserve Forces who 7 after July 5, 1950, are called out for service with the Regular Forces and serve with the Regular Forces for a period not exceeding three years. By an Order in. Council passed in 1950 under the Canada Forces Act the provisions of the. Reinstatement in Civil Employment Act, 1946, were extended to members of the Special Force and members of the Reserve Forces who serve on the strength of the Special Force. The reinstatementprovisions of this Order in Council have now been incorporated in the provisions of the Veterans Benefit Act, 1951: r^. Under the Reinstatement in Civil Employment Act a discharged person may claim reinstatement either verbally or in writing, usually within three months of discharge in Canada or four months if discharged overseas. There is Provision for extension of this time when through a condition of health the employee cannot return to his employment this soon, but the employer must be notified to three or four months, as the case may be, and a Reinstatement Officer should be consulted.
