Legionettes Capture
Three More Victories
Sam Castle and the rest of the Castle elf, C', Glidden 2b, K.
OR -1g who operate Clinton Leg-
ionettes in the WOAA Intermed-
iate ladies' softball series, have
smiles on their facets today, for
their charges have come through
with victories in six of the last
seven games.
The girls defeated Glamis at
',Blyth Friday evening last 14-7;
trimmed the same team again in
Clinton on Monday evening 19-
11; and then won an exhibition
match against Hensall at Bayfield
Lions Carnival last evening 9-3.
Clinton 14 -Glamis 7
Gamic led 6-5 at the end of the
third inning at Blyth, but the
Clinton kids bounced back into
the running with a vengeance in
the fourth, fifth, eighth and ninth.
Clinton had 29. hits, Barbara
Dale and Joanne Castle knock-
ing out five each.

Clinton 9-1Hiensall 3
A triple play featured Clinton
Legionettes' 9-3 win over Hen -
sail in an exhibition match at
Hayfield last evening.
It came in the fifth, when "Jen-
sen had the bases full and none
out -rather a tough spot for any
team to be in.
Taylor was' on third, Stephan
on second, and Soldan on first.
Hildebrand came to bat and
knocked a hardhit, low line drive
to Barbara Dale at third. Using
real baseball intelligence, Barb-
ara practically scooped the ball
out of the dirt, putting out the
batter; stepped on third to catch
the runner off base; and then
threw to Phylis Mack who touch-
ed second, catching the runner
off second. It was a beautiful
play -and a rare' one.
This was the only inning Hen -
threatened. It was a close game
all through with good defensive
play more apparent than at any
time this season on the part of
Legionettes.
