Successful Sale
A successful rummage sale
was held in the Town Hall on
Tuesday of last week whichbrought the sum of $144.58 to
the Pioneer Park Fund for drain-
age and improvement of the site.
The directors are grateful to all
those who assisted in any way. It
is most surprising what turns up
at a rummage sale end this year
two items of interest were a
German and a French antique
bayonet. The latter was engrav-
ed with the name of the origin -al
owner, St. Etienne, 1874. Ob-
viously they were collectors items
and since they were not sold that
night, they will be eppraised for
th regret that
Orlo Millar, well-known writer,
playwright, historian and radio
broadcaster,' was planning to
leave Bayfield. He has been a
resident o fthe village for the
past two years (.during wti(ilch
time he and his wife, Maridon
Miller, took an active interest
in promoting a Little Theatre
Group here from which their
talent will be missed: Mrs. Mil-
ler was also active in the Trinity
Club. Villagers tuned in •reg-
ularly Ito CFPL on Sundays dur-
ing Mr. Miller's series, "It So
Happened," made doubly inter-
esting by the fact that he fre-
quently mentioned Bayfield. We
hope the series will be continued
next winter, despite the fact that
Mr. Miller is preparing to leave
this 'week and plans to make his
home in Halifax where he has a
contract with the CBC.
Mrs. Miller and Gordon, who
went to Jamaica recently where
Mr. Miller planned to join them
later, did not find conditions in
Jamaica to their liking and re-
turned to London last week.
Bayfield friends regret very
much their departure from our
midst.
