"Parish Picnic"
The Parish pientle of St. James,
Middleton, St. John's, Verne, end
Trinity Church, Bayfield, was
held at Jowett's Grove, Tuesday
afternoon, July 17. There was a
good attendance and the affair,
under The efficient direction of
the rector, Rev. H. J. E. Webb,
was much enjoyed by young end
old alike. There wes a program
of various races for the children,
races for men and women, a kick -
the -slipper contest ,for women.
caused great amusement.
About 90 sat down to a sumpt-
uous repast. There was a treat
of ice cream for all, end after
the mapper the rector had a candy
scramble for the children. The
ladies packed a basket of sand-
wiches which were left over for
the Huron. Church camp.

The annual congregational pic-
nic of Brucefield United Church
will be held in Jowett's Grove,
Hayfield, on Friday afternoon,
July 20. A full line of sports is
being prepared by the committee,
Brucefield WMVIS Meets
The July meeting of Brucefield
WMS was held in the schoolroom
on Tuesday afternoon with the
ipresident, Mrs. A. Zepfe, in the
chair. The -programme was in
charge of the associate inemlbers.
Mrs. T. Baird, associate member
secretary, had charge of the wor-
ship service "Worship and Work."
The meeting opened with hymn
256, The Scripture readings were
all taken by Mrs N. Walker,
Community Club was held at the
home of Mrs. R. E.. Th:ompson,
with the president, Mrs: L. Pear-
son, in charge. The meeting
opened with 0 Canada. '
The mirr,.utes of the last meet-
ing were read, followed by the
tr'easurer's report. Roll call was
answered by 15 members and one
visitor.
A demonstration by the Singer
sewing Centre from Goderich
proved very Interesting to the
ladies. A draw which was held
for a free sewing course was won
by Mrs. S. Farquhar.
The August meeting is to be-
held at the home of Mrs, C. Tab -
butt. The roll call will be an-
swered by "your birthstone and
flowers to go with it." The host-
esses are Mrs. Lorne Tyndall and
Mrs. Ira Merrill,

by the hostesses.
