Many Attend Sale
A large' crowd attended the
sale of farm implements and
furniture of the late Robert James
Rutledge lest Saturday. The farm
was purchased by Nelson Pear-
son, Port Albert.
Teachers Engaged
Robert Ferris, who has been
teacher of S.S. No, 9, ' Hallett,
for the past three -and -a -half
years, has been engaged as teach-
er of the Barr sohool'near Blyth.
Miss McFarlane, Brussels, has
been engaged to teach at the
No. 9 school.
Newlyweds Honoured •
A reception was held in the
Forester's Hail Friday night in
honor of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth
Scott, newlyweds. At an approp-
riate time, Wellington McNeil
read an address extending con-
gratulations and best wishes, and
Orville McPhee presented them
with a purse of money. Music
for dancing was provided by a
Clinton orchestra. Lunch includ-
ing wedding cake, was served.

sided end opened the meeting
with prayer. The, devotional per-
iod ,Was 'taken by Mrs. Roy, who
read the Scripture, gave medita-
tion of same and offered prayer.
Mrs. Wes Bradnock read a letter
from Rev. C. L. Wood telling of
his missionary work in Indiia. Mrs.
Fred Ross read an article on the
"Lost Sheep" (George Clephane)
of the hymn "Ninety and Nine"
who died at Fergus 100 years
ago. Mrs. Wilfred Vesterfelt sang
:the hymn as a solo. A chapter
lin tie study book was taken by
Mrs. W. 'T. Rodeison, assisted by
Mrs. Ed. Davies, Mrs. Gordon
Dobie, Mrs. J. W. Graham and
Mrs. Don Haines. Mrs. Ed Davies
gave an interesting talk on
churches she had attended dup-
ing her trip to Florida. Mrs.
Little, who is leaving this com-
munity soon, was presented with
a gift. Mrs. Bradnock read an
address and Mrs. Dabi'e made the
presentation. The meeting closed
with a hymn and prayer by Mrs,

Auburn WI Meets
Auburn Wpmen's- Institute held
he annual "Sunshine Sisters"
banquet at the British Exchange
Hotel an Tuesday evening, when
some 65 members enjoyed a tur-
key dinner. The tables were
decorated with spring 'flowers in
silver holders, and. the place cards
were miniature dolls dressed in
the Institute colors; purple and
gold.
Following the dinner, the presi-
dent, Mrs. Wes Bradnock, presid-
ed far the program. A toast to
the King was proposed by Mrs.
W. 3, Craig; and a toast to the
Institute was proposed by Miss
Margaret King and responded to
by Mrs. A. Nesbit. The guest
speaker was Mus. J. Watson,
Blyth. who gave an interesting
address on "The Use of Electric-
ity in Connection with Agricul-
ture." followed with a piano tittet
by Mrs. R. J Phillips and Mrs.
S. McClinehey; a vocal solo, Mrs.
Gordon- Taylor; trio, Mrs. Fred
Plaetzer, Mrs. George Million.
and Miss Sadie Carter; reading.
Mrs. Albert Ctunpbell: and guit-

"Home Care of the Sick" It was
decided to hold a bridal pageant
in June, with the program com-
mittee and the executive in
charge. Names of "Sunshine Sis-
ters" were drawn for another
year. A vote of thanks was ex
tended to Mrs. Watson for her
address, to Mrs. Gordon McClin-
chey and her committee f'or the
program, and to Mrs. Fred Toll
and her committee for arraneine
