Lose Out
To Elora
(By RSA)
It was just -•a little too much
Elora for 'Clinton Shaws in the
WOAA Bantam "grand" champ-
ionship series last week. •
Manager Jim Chowen ; kids
put up a valiant fight but fin-
ally were knocked out of com-
petition in the third game of the
series.
Clinton won the first game ,at
home 12-4, but lost the second at
Elora 12-9 Thursday afternoon
last, and the sudden -death fix-
ture 12-.7 at Listowel Saturday.
The winners, who meet V heat -
ley for the OBA Bantam "B"
title, presented a better -balanced
nine and the ability to get runs
when they were needed.
Shaws have had a long and
successful season, winning the
WOAA Bantam 'A" champion-
ship. ' They proved real sports-
men in the Elora .series and
learned how to lose as well as•
to win; they had not lost a game
this year until the Elora typhoon
struck. The kids may be heard
from next year.
Elora 12—Clinton 9
Errors at crucial times spelled
disaster at Elora. Bob Carrick
twirled until the fifth when
Murray Maltby went in to pitch.

The weather was bitterly cold
at Listowel Saturday afternoon,
but both teams played a good
brand of baseball. The margin
lay in balance.
Terry Jenkins hurled for five
innings, with Bob Carrick finish-
ing up, the two reversing posi-
tions. Muir did a good job on
the mound for Elora.
