Clinton News-Record, 1950-03-02, Page 8PAGE EIGHT SPOUTS Colts Down One Game' Best -of -Three Finals With the play-off chips on the ! line, Milverton Dominions, con- querors of New Hamburg in two •'straight games, defeated Clinton `Colts 6-5 in an action -packed OHA Intermediaate group final match in Lions Arena here Mon- day evening before 700 paying fans. The second of the best -in -five series was scheduled for Milver- ton last evening, but was called off on account of the, severe storm that raged yesterday, mak- ing visibility very poor on the highways. The Milverton man- ager phoned early that Colts would find the trip by car a tough one and that they mightn't get there and back. The game will be played in Milverton tomorrow evening. Monday's torrid struggle was tough one 'to lose, and there was very little between the two teams. It was rugged, but fair, hockey that kept the Iarge crowd in con- tinual uproar. -The visitors led 2-1 at the end of the first period, and 4-3 at the end of the second. Colts almost pulled the game out of the fire in the closing minutes with a sustained offen- sive. Milverton's sixth goal came on a. breakaway, putting Colts down two, Tint they came back strongly, Draper getting Clinton's fifth with a little over a minute to go. Bill Hanly went right through but the visiting goalie was right on his toes. , Milverton 6—Colts 5 (At Clinton, Monday, Feb. 27) M I L VE R T O N DOMINIONS - Goal, R.
