Two more Clinton hockey teams
started the long grind in search,.
of hockey glory. The Lions Mid-
gets played their first game in
Mitchell ors Monday' night and
came home with a 6-2 win. The
Legion sponsored Bantam team
journeyed to. Exeter last evening
and played' to a 7-7 tie. These
two teams will., try again in Clin-
ton on Friday.: night at 7 p.m.
David Lamb led the Midgets in
their first game, scoring four of
his team's goals. Ken Cummings
and Frank Glew scored, the other
Clinton markers. The game was
very cleanly played with only four
penalties being handed out. Three

Clinton Women's Institute will be
held in the Agricultural Office
Board Room on Friday afternoon,
December 16, at 2 prn.'Each mem-

Early Monday morning a frame
house situated on the east side of
Victoria Street was moved by
Davis Contracting Company to a
new location on Isaac Street. The
house was directly in front of a
new service station now in the
process of completion by Canad-
ian Oil Company.

Two Clinton men, Elwin Mer-
rill and Kenneth, Pickett, each
paid fines of $10 and costs in
court an Tuesday, for charges .of
careless' driving laid fallowing an
acci'd'ent near Bayfield last month.
Robert LeBeau, RR 5, Clinton,
was charged with careless driv
ing, and paid. $20 and costs 10
Clinton court this 'week. Prov-
incial Constable R, Sims, Goderich
investigated an accident, involv-
ing the Lejaeau car on November
18, when the vehicle was classing
Highway 4 from one farm lane to
another and hit the side 01 anoth-
er car: -
Andrew J. Swan, Brucefield,,
paid a fine of $15 and costs, here,
following careless driving charges
arising out of an accidhnt in
Brucefield on November 12 invol-
ving a transport, and ' Samuel
Bondi, Wingham, paid $5 and
costs after pleading guilty to hav-
ing no proper clearance lights on
a truck. Constable Morley Grov-
es investigated the Swan accident,
and Constable Parkinson investi-
gated the Bondi one.
Kenneth J. Miller was fined $7.0
and costs for speeding on Victor-
ia Street, South; in Clinton. Con-
stable C, Perdue apprehended

"Ting" Is . Guest At Men's Club
Ladies Night At \Vesley-Willis
The annual Ladies' Night of the
Wesley -Willis Men (the men's club
of the Wesley Willis—Hohnes-
voile charge) was held on Thurs-
day evening, December 11 with a
splendid attendance. The 'first
part of the evening took the form
of a turkey dinner, served by the
members of the Woman's Associa-
tion.
ssociation. Charles Nelson, the presi-
dent, was in charge of the busi-
i:ess part of the meeting.
The report of the nominating
Committee was given by John
Nediger, and the following officers
were :appointed: past . president,
Wesley Holland; president, Char-
les Nelson; vice-president, John
Necliger; secretary, Frank McCul-
lough; treasurer, Thomas Riley;
programme convener, Benson Sut-
ter; lunch convener, Wilfred Jer-
vis and Elmer Hugill.
Benson Sutter presided for the
programme period which opened
by carol singing with Mrs. M. R.
Rennie at ,the piano. ' The toast
to the , church was proposed by
Councillor N. W. Trewartha, cleric
of session, with Rev. 11, C. Wilson
giving the response. The toast to
the ladies was proposed by How-
ard Lochliead with Mrs. W. M.
Nediger giving the response by
singing a vocal solo. The guest
soloist of the evening was William
B. Cocoon, Wingham, a former
member of the church and choir,
who delighted the audience with
his solos, and also blended his
voice with that of Mrs. Nediger
In two lovely duets. A quartet,
comprising Les Pearson, M. R.
Rennie, Donald Andrews and
Councillor R. N. Irwin, sang two
novelty numbers which were much
enjoyed. -
The guest speaker of the even-
ing was Merrill Tingley, Common-
ly known as "Ting", the London
Free Press cartoonist, and was
introduced to the . group by Mr.
Conron. ''Ting" very cleverly
portrayed some of the well-known
persons of the day, such as
Anthony Eden, Winston Churchill,
Prime Minister St. Laurent, Pres
stent Eisenhower and others, as
well as other cartoons. He gave
his drawings to anyone in the
audience who- wished them, and
also gave special cartoon souven-
irs to those who requested them.
The appreciation to all who had
taken part, and to the ladies for
the sumptuous repast was voiced -
by Councillor George• Beattie.
With the singing of the carol
"0 Come, All Ye Faithful", and
the benediction, pronounced by
Rev. H. C. Wilson, a very fine
evening was brought to a close.
