charge under the leadership of the
convener June Manning:, Bob' Mc-
Dougall conducted the recreation
period. Lunch was served and the
meeting closed with the "Taps".

,vice of the Suffragan; Bishop of
Huron, W. A. Townshend, in St.
Paul's Cathedral, London, on
Thursday lat. Stewart tewart attended

Dr. Edward Mu]1en§, resident
surgeon at the Wellesley Hospi-
tal, Toronto, is to be 'congratulat-
ed on passing all examinations
leading to the coveted ,medical
degree F.R.C.S. Dr. Mullen's wife
is the fennel- Elizabeth Middle-
ton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Fred Middleton and she and her
husband are both graduates of the
University of Western Ontario. A
brilliant career is predicted for
this young surgeon.
Community Club
The S.S. 4 Community Club
,net at the home of Mrs. Leslie
Pearson for the November' meet-
ing. Mrs. M. Jones presided. The
roll call, a 50c donation to the
Children's Aids was answered by
16 members' and there were four
visitors. This donation was in-
creased to $10. The treasurer's
report showed a balance of $21.50.
Following, the business discuss-
ion, the meeting was closed with
the Mizpah benedictipn. Lunch.
was served by the hostess, with
Mrs. Robert Thompson assisting.

Blyth Men Hurt
In. Crossing Mishap
Three ' Blyth men, Emerson
Wright Sherman Benninger and
Norman Speer,' were injured Sat-
urday when their light truck was
struck by a mixed train at the
CPR crossing in Blyth.
Two, of the injured men, Ben-
ninger and Speer were taken by
ambulance to Clinton Public Hos-
pital. Benninger suffered four
broken ribs and was later releas-
ed. Speer received fractured ribs
and a broken ankle. Wright escap-
cd with minor bruises.
Wright was the driver of the
truck. The three men, employees
of the Blyth turnip plant, were
returning to work after dinner
when the accident occurred.

W. A. Meeting
The Woman's Association of
Knox United Church met Tuesday
evening with the Harmony Circle
in charge of the program. Mrs.
Alvin Plunkett led the devotional
period with. Mrs. C. C. Washing-
ton at the piano.
The scripture lesson from Luke
2, was read by Mrs. Wilfred Plun-
kett and Mrs, Fred Toll led in
prayer. Miss Rena McClindhey
favored with an accordian solo and
a report of the Huron Presbytery
Women's Association Convention
held in North Street United chur-
ch, Goderich, was given by the
delegate Mrs. Bert Craig.
The guest speaker of the even-
ing Mrs. George Hodges, Dungan-
non was introduced by Mrs. Char-
les Millian. She demonstratel the
making of artificial flowers, which
Proved very interesting and help-
ful. A vote of • thanks to Mrs,
Hodges was voiced by Miss Sadie
Carter.

brief outline of a bus tour that she
and other ladies of the community
enjoyed to Toronto recently,touch-
ing on the highlights and points
of interest that they had seen.
This part of the meeting closed
with a Christmas Carol and the
president Mrs. John Durnin pre-
sided for -the business period. Fol-
lowing ,the routine business, lunch
was served by the ladies of the
"Circle" and asocial time enjoyed.

A meeting of the Londesboro
Women's Institute was held in the
Community Hall with the presi-
dent, Mrs. Stanley Lyon, in the
chair. Mrs. Arthur Clark, secre-
tary -treasurer, read the minutes
of thelast meeting.
Donations are to he sent to the
Cliildrenls War Memorial Hospital,
London, and to the Polio Fund.
A committee of Mrs,+ Watson
Reid and Mrs, Clare Vincent was
appointed to arrange the extension
service March 14. ,
Mrs. Stanley Lyon gave a few
highlights of the meeting held at
Grand Bernd November 22. Final
plays were made far the Huron
County Soil and Crop Irnprove-
ment Association banquet on De-
cember 9.
Roll call was answered by a
donation for shut-ins. Mrs. Edwin
Wood, Mrs. Joseph Shaddick, Mrs.
Clarence Crawford are to assist
in packing the boxes at' the -home
