1954 Town Council, all Members''
were present with the exception
of Reeve Melvin Crich who was
unavoidably . 'absent due to a
meeting of the Ontario Barbers
Association (of which he is on
the executive) in Toronto.
A request from Stanley E,
Collins' for payment of damages,
done = to his car when he pulled
off onto the shoulder of Victoria
Street, was referred to the town's
insurance company.
Request from the Retail Mer-
chants Committee of the Clinton
and District ' Chamber of Com-
merce for the proclamation of
Tuesday, December 27,, as a holi-
day, was received and acted upon.
George Falconer, chairman' of
the Clinton District Collegiate In-
stitute Board waited upon council
with regard to better'; parking
arrangements in front of the col-
legiate, Suggesting "no . parking"
signs•so that space would be left
for buses to pull off. Council
suggested temporary signs "until
definite arrangements could . be
made.

By-law 7-1938 , governing open
hours. for barbeishops+' in tots`
was received. and, .left , over for
action by the 1956 by-laws corn-
, rnittee. •

showed 22 places found insecure'
during November; six convic�r
tions; 11 cases prosecuted under''

motor vehicle accidents.

deputy reeve for 1955 meetings.
On this latter question, Deputy
Reeve Stanley mentioned' that 'In
Clinton councillors got 'a good
deal less than in Goderich, where
they are paid $4 for each meet-
ing, and the same for each com-
mittee meeting held regularly
each month before the meeting
night. -
Ariangement was made to pay
town employees every second
Friday. Council agreed to con-
tribute $35 toward the cost of
making up strings of lights to
decorate the Christmas trees on
the main street.

Recent feature in a Western
Ontario daily newspaper, spot-
lighting the bi-monthly auction
sales of furs' on Walpole Island,
included a picture of staff mem-
ers of the Ontario Department
of Lands and Forests. Among
thein, and taking part in the
examination of furs at the auc-
tion, was 'Lloyd Stock, formerly
of HoimesvIlle.

RECEIVES APPOINTMENT
Fraser Lockhart, formerly of
Dundalk,'and a nephew of James
Lockhart; Clinton. was recently
appointed branch manager and
generalsales manager of Pfizer
Canada. A new Canadian plant
for this firm, the world's largest
manufacturer of antibiotics, is
now under construction at Arn-
prior, Ontario. Headquarters are
in Montreal for this division of
Pfizer Corporation, a subsidiary
of Chas. Pfizer & Co. Inc.
