Fireside Farm Forum
(By Mrs. Wilburn Dobnage)
The Iiullett Fireside Farm Fer-
ule . met' Monday evening at the
home, of Mr, and Mrs, Oliver Arr
derson, with about' 22 adults and
some children •present, Delegates.
for the Farm Forum Rally and
Banquet in Blyth on Wednesday,
December 7, were appointed,; Most
felt they Would sooner retire on
the farm although circumstances
alter cases, It might be neces-
sary to sell and vacate the prop-
erty, or to : move closer to stores
and doctors:.
However, few farmers can af-
ford to retire to the town or city,
because of high property values'
and cost bf living, Some men
would be so lost, .the change and
idleness would kill them, or force
them to seek town employment.
Their friends would be left be-
hind and it is' difficult for old folk
to make up with new friends.
Life insurance, bought at an
early age, seemed to be the best
solution. In this way the prem-
ium ,would not be too large or
difficult to pay, . Most farmers
have not sufficient cash for gov-
eriuinent annuities.
Euchre prises were won by Mrs,
Robert Jamieson and Jessie Teb-
butt for most games; Mrs, Robert
Dalton and Donald Buchanan for
lone hands and Virginia Oliver
and Robert Jamieson for conepla-
tion: A delicious lunch was ser
ved by the lunch committee.
