NOTHING GOES RIGHT AS JUNIORS
SUBMERGED 12-1 BY MITCHELL
Everything that could happen to MacDonald. He gave it the old
a baseball team did last night, and
it was all bad, as far as the Clin-
ton Juniors were concerned. They
were drubbed 12-1, committed nine
errors, were allowed only two bits
all in the short space of five in-
nings. This was the third game of
the best of five series. with Mit-
chell and if the' Clinton kids fail
to improve it is certain that the
action will end in Mitchell on Fri-
day night. The Legion team have
won two with the other game
ending in a tie.
Mitchell sewed the game up in
the first inning with three quick
.runs, Harry Elliott led off with a
bunt and was safe on an error.
Chessel bunted and both men were
safe when the attempted force
play at second failed, Doug Aitch-
eson and Bill Gatenby both bunted
and were out at first, Elliott scor-
ing on the latter's sacrifice. Two
errors followed and two more runs
before the third man was thrown
out. The Legionaires added two
more in the second on three hits,
including a triple by Aitcheson.
In the third the parade continued
as four more runs crossed the
plate on a single hit and three
errors. Mitchell scored three times
in the fifth' to end the route. Clin-
ton's only run came in the second
when Bill MacDonald singled, stole
second and came the rest of the
way on two wild pitches. The
only other Clinton hit went to
Jerry Tebbutt. He -was thrown out
trying to steal.
It was a heartbreaker for Bill

12-2 Victory, Here
Mitchell Legionaires found the
offerings of Rick Elliott to their
lilting last Friday night in a Hu-
ron -Perth playoff baseball game
here. They hopped on the, young
Clinton hurler for 11 hits and 11
runs in the first four innings to
take the second game of the play-
offs 12-2. Included in the 12 -hit
barrage were two home runs by
Doug Atcheson, a triple by Bob
Norris and a double off the bat of
ageless Bert White.
Bill MacDonald was rushed,into
the breach in the fourth frame and
stopped the powerful Legion bat-
ters cold. Bill allowed just one
hit and one unearned run in the
four and two-thirds innings he
worked. He also fanned eight men,
Bill Gatenby, pitching for Mit-
chell, proved to be very tough. He
limited the locals' to four hits,
three of them in the two -run four-
th, and he struek out 13 men. Bob
Garon provided the only bright
spot in the Clinton attack with
a home run, driving in Gerry
Tebbutt who had led off the in-
ning with a single.
Bert White made his first ap-
pearance in Clinton this year and
showed that he still can bat. Bert
had twa official trips to the dish
and cracked out a double and a
single.
