YPU Anniversary
The Young People held annivex-
sary services in Brucefield United
Church on Sunday morning, May
29, -when Ross Stanway,, London,
formerly of Brucefield, was the
guest speaker. He gave an able
address from Matthew 7 : 6 "Cast
Ye not your pearls before swine",
and also read Luke 2 :42-52. He
stressed the point that "if we want
to grow up as good citizens, we
must love our neighbour as our-
selves,"
The male quartet from Turner's
United Church: Bert Pepper,
George Turner, Stanley Johns and
Gordon Johns sang two very ef-
fective • numbers, accompanied by
Mrs. Jahn R. Murdoch. The choir
anthem was The Lord is My
Life". Robert Broadfoot, Allea
Haugh, Neil Haugh, and Bruce
Walker received the offering.
Rev: G. G. Burton expressed
thanks to the speaker, the choir,
the. young and all those taking
part, and he closed .the service
with the benediction and the hymn
"Onward Christian Soldiers".

Summerhill Club
Re -appoints Mrs.
K. ` Tyndall, Prexy
The annuli meeting of the Sum-
merhill Ladies' Club was held at
the home of Mrs. Earl Blake with
the president, Mrs. Keith Tyndall,
in the chair, The meeting was
opened by singing "The Maple
Leaf", followed by. the Lord's
Prayer in unison.
Twenty-one members answered
the roll call and there were eight
visitors present Annual reports
were received from the various
committees. Results of the elect
tion is as follows:
President, Mrs. Keith Tyndall;
vice-president, Mrs. ' Percy Gib-
bings; secretary, Mrs. N. Forbes;
treasurer, Mrs. George Wright;
card committee, Mrs, Charles Mer-
rill; quilt committee, Mrs. Wesley
Vodden and Mrs. Norman Wright;
lunch committee, 'Mrs. W. Pen -
found; pianist, Mrs. Ross Lovett;
assistant pianist, Mrs. Lloyd Stew-
art,
Mrs. Wes Vodden was presented:
with a gold pin , and honorary
membership in the club. The pro-
gram consisted' of a penny -guessing
contest conducted by Mrs. Charles.
Merrill and won 'by 'Mrs. W. Pen-
found; a humorous reading by Mrs.
Orval Rapson; Mrs, Ross Lovett
favoured with a piano number;
Mrs. James Snell presented a con-
test which was won by Mrs. Nor-
man Ball. The raffle was won by
Mrs, E. Knezacek.
The June meeting will be held
at thehome of Mrs. E. Ellis. The
roll call is to be answered by the

Harold Lebb has purchased the
property of Robert Fettis. Mr. ; and
Mrs. Fettis plan to move to Barrie
in the near future.
Murray Tyndall, Mrs. William
Burdge and William Sinclair are
confined to. Victoria Hospital, Lon-
don. They are all as well as can
be expected,

Motor To Blyth
The ladies of the Stanley Com-
munity Club motored to Blyth to
the home of Mrs. Kenneth Taylor
for the May meeting. Sixteen
members and five visitors answer-
ed the roll call.
Mrs. Frank McGregor gave the
treasurer's report, and the collec-
tion was taken amounting to $7.40.
Miss Billie Stewart conducted the
business part of the meeting. It
was decided to give $10 to the
Cancer Fund. It was also decid-
ed to give the musicians each a box
of chocolates for playing at parties
during the winter months.
Mrs. Sinclair asked the club to
quilt another quilt and this was
agreed • upon. Three thank -you
cards 'were read from Mrs. Roy
Cantelon, Mrs. William McEwen
and Mrs. John A. McEwen.
The next meeting will be on
June 1 at the home of Mrs. Todd.
A full attendance is requested as
election of officers for the coming
year will be held. The roll call
will be a 25 -cent gift exchange.
