for the grand championship. Driv-
ers, who finished in third place in
the regular standing, lost only one
game in playoff competition. They

Drivers players' were Don Strong..
as •captain; Jack Holmes, Grant
Nelson, Hazel Nelson, Erma Hart-
ley and Margaret Reynolds.
Marg. Reynolds was . the big
bowler for the Drivers during the
playoffs. She had a total of 2,370
in the three series of nine games
with scone of 823, 812 and 735.
The three game total of 823 gives
her the lead in the ladies' section
of the high triple for the honour.

E. Garrow wins the most im-
proved bowler award. He increas-
ed his average from 153.2 to 179:8
over the season's play. Amy Lov-
ett is the winner of the • ladies'
high single with 331. Erma Hart-
ley's 779 was top score for the
ladies'. high triple, award. In the
men's division Don Strong took
high single honours with 394 and
Bert Harris'high
821 won the g
triple.
A banquet will be held tonight,
Thursday, when all the awards and
trophies will be presented.

ung Club held thespring organiza-
tion meeting on Thursday, April,
28 at the home of Mrs. J, M. El-
liott. There was a large turnout,
Officers chosen for the year are:

It was decided to run a jitney
every, second week throughout the
summer as was done two years
ago. The fees remain the same,
$4.00 a member, and are to be
paid before July 1, Arrangements
were made to' hold, a draw on a
chestr
of. silver, to raise money,
with Mrs.. J. M. Elliott as conven-
er. The hostess served a lunch.
Vote $50 Grant
For Spring Show
A grant of $50 was made to the
Clinton Spring Show at the May
meeting of Tuckersmith Municipal
Council on Tuesday evening, when
Reeve James Doig presided and all
members were present,
A grant of $25 was, authorized
for the Scott Memorial Hospital,
Sedforth, and membership .fees of
$15 was paid to the Huron County
Municipal Officers Association.
Request to the HEPC for one
additional street Iight in Bruce -
field, will be made at the sug-
gestion of Gordon Elliott, of that
village.
John Crich, representing the
Seaforth Old Boys Reunion Com-
mittee attended the Meeting and
requested' council to have an arch-
way built at the entrance to town
for the reunion, and council plans
to give thismatter more consid-
eration when more information is
available.
The Tuckersmith School Area
Board requested that what is
known as the "Clergy Reserve
Fund" be kept intact and that
council continue to pay the inter-
est from such fund to the schools.
This fund had been credited tp
current surplus by the township
auditor, A. M. Harper, Goderich,
on the advice of the Department
of Municipal Affairs.
The Board members are Chair-
man Wilmer Broadfoot, Ross For-
rest, Mervyn. Falconer, Chester
Neil and James Landsborough.

News
This year, the same as last year,
a District Camporee will be held
at the• Scout Camp on the Mait-
land River. Preparations for this
Camporee are now in progress.
This weekend two ,patrols from
the troop will be going through
their paces as if it were a real
Camporee. These patrols, six boys
each, will be under the leadership
of P.L. Stephen Brown and P.L.
Barrie MacLaren. The outing is to
get the boys into shape as' many
of them have little camping exper-
ience.
Welcome to a new member of
the troop, Donald. Hugel. After
he has passed his tenderfoot, he
Will be invested and assigned to a
patrol.
At the last meeting three new
members were invested: John
Jacob, Jimmy , Dales and Ray
Gautreau. They joined the Chip-
munk, Woodpecker and Beaver
patrols respectively:
The Court of Honour will hold
its regular meeting on Tuesday
evening at Seven o'clock at the
home of Assistant Scoutmaster
Arthur Tyndall.

Harriett Rance, who was a grand-
daughter of the founder of Clinton.
and two years later was elected
mayor of Clinton. In public life,
Dr. Shaw served as councillor,
commissioner with the PUC; was
one of the early members of the
Library Board; was on the Hos-
pital Board and'"served as presi-
dent and chairman; was president
of- the 'athletic association, and
served -en a dozen other local or-
ganizations, He was a life mem-
ber of the Ontario Medical Assoc-
iation.
Dr. Shaw' was initiated into St.
John Lodge, Brussels, in 1884, lat-
er moving to the Clinton Lodge.
He received a long service medal
on November 8,symbol of 50
years as Past 1945,aster of the Clin-
ton Lodge A.F. and A.M. No, 84.
He was the oldest living Past
District Deputy Grand Master in
this district,
Dr. Shaw became a Lieutenant
in the militia in 1889, and the next
year was made Captain of the
Goderich Township Company, lat-
er being named Medical Officer.
He served overseas with the 161st
Huron Regiment as MO from 1916
to 1919, and was promoted from
Major •to Lieutenant-Colonel in
1916. He retired from the ` 33rd
Huron Battalion (Militia') in 1922
with the rank of Lieut. -Col.
Throughout World War II Dr,
Shaw was active in civilian efforts
and was chosen to welcome return-
ed Clinton personnel at the official•
reception held on December 27,
1945.
To mark the golden wedding
anniversary of Dr. and Mrs. Shaw
in 1947 the citizens of Clinton held
a public reception in their honour.
That same year he headed the
campaign for funds to build the
new wing at the hospital.
