Mrs. Edwin Cooper was in charge and she opened the de- votional part of the 'meeting with a; poem followed by a hymn, The Scripture was read. A letter was. read from Mrs. Fred Sloman thanking the members for the lay- ette and blankets that had been sent. Mrs. Edwin Cooper and Mrs. A. Dale sang a duet, "The Garden c1 Prayer" and •"T'm'Praying For You", accompanied 'by Mrs. Sage at the piano. Mrs.: Larry Haugh- ton was appointed secretary and Mrs. Bagnall, treasurer. During the study period, `Mrs. Cooper read a Series of articles entitled 'Children's Fears" and "My Mother Keeps Her Word". A reading "Delinquent Parents" was read by Mrs. A. Dale.. A general discussion followed.Mrs.r W. Jervis read' the yearly report. A hymn followed by the Mizpah benediction closed the meeting. Asocial half hour was followed by lunch' served by Mrs. Currie, assisted by Mrs. Haughton and Mrs. Sage. Boxes Of Stockings Sent To Korea By Ontario St. WA St. Andrew's WA Appoints New Commy Committees for 55 Mrs, George:GaWley was hostess to the Woman's Association of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church After singing "Simply Trusting Every Day", the president, Mrs. Ed Farquhar read Jeremiah, chap- ter 1, and offered prayer. Miss Macpherson, secretary and Mrs. R. L. McEwen, treasurer, read their reports. The congregational' sup- per, held before the annual meet- ing was a' success. Committees were nominated as follows: flowers, Mrs. Shaddock, Mrs. Alex Cudmore; ; social, Mrs. Gibson, Mrs. Rathburn; aprons, Mrs. Dunbar, Miss Macpherson; tea making, ;Mrs.. Robert Scott, Mrs. William', Shortreed; home baking, Mrs. John Cook, Mrs. Alex Cudmore, Mrs. George Gawley, Mrs. Anderson. Several poems were read by Mrs. Lane. The meeting closed with the Lord's Prayer. Mrs. Gawley was assisted in serving refresh- ments by Mrs. R. L. McEwen. d The Woman's Association of On- tario Street : United Church was held on Tuesday afternoon in the school hall of the church. Mrs, J. Radford presided for . the opening exercises and -Mrs. Ira Merrill took the devotionals, Rev. A. Ga Eagle installed the' memilers' of the 1955 executive us- ing the service used in all United Churches for that purpose. The new president, Mrs. M. Crich, took the chair and called on Mrs, Fear ;who , expressed the thanks of the organization to Mrs. J. Radford for her faithful services over the years. The secretary gave the minutes of .the January meeting and the executive meeting. The latter in- cluded the naives of all committees for 1955. Several notes of thanks for flowers and cards were read, It was reported -that several hundred pairs of cashmere hose from stock of Brown's store, had been sent to Toronto, destined for Korea. Also a box of the stock- ings is to be sent to Mrs. Fred Sloman in Northern Ontario. Two letters from Mrs. Sloman were read by Mrs. Fear thanking Clin- ton folk for a box sent to relieve severe need caused by fires and stating that the stockings would be gratefully accepted to help the needy to whomthey were sent. The ladies were asked to be planning for their kitchen in the new addition to the church which is to be built this year. A short programme consisted of a reading by Mrs. J. Livermore entitled "Farm Folk, the Backbone of the Churcp" by Miss J. Scott, columnist in the Globe and Mail. Mrs. Donald Symons entertained with a vocal solo, "Walk Thou With Me", and an encore, "He Knows the Way". Mrs. E. Rad- ford played a lovely piano solo, "A Spring Song." After .closing exercises a delic- ious lunch was served and.. a social half hour spent. Benson Sutter, accompanied by Donald MacKenzie, Chesley, spent the weekend with Mr.." and Mrs. Kenneth Welch, Wallacetown, at tending a Young People's commit- tee meeting. Mrs. R. P. Robbins was in To- ronto yesterday attending the fun- eral of the late Mrs. Samuel Est - wick. On her return last evening shewas accompanied by her hus- band, who return to his police duties at Richmond Hill to -day. Goshen WA' Has Regular Meeting The regular meeting of Goshen United Church Woman's Associa- tion -was held in the basement of the church. The meeting was open- ed by singing hymn 380. Mrs: Wil- liam Hayter read the scripture, Cor. 2: 8. The topic, "The Spirit of Helpfulness" was give! by Mrs. Russell; Erratt. The treasurer, Mrs. Roy McBride, gave a very favourable report. It was moved by Mrs. W. Clark, seconded by Mrs. W. Hayter that the play "Miss Molly" be staged in the Varna hall on February 9. This play is given by the Turner's Church YPU_, It was decided to have the bak- ing sale in the Bayfield town hall on Saturday, Juy 16. The meeting closed by singing a hymn and Mrs. Erratt led in prayer. A delicious lunch was served. Meat Inspection In Huron County A"move'is being made towards having all meat butchered m Hu- ron County for sale in local stores inspected regularly. At the last meeting of the Exeter Town Coun- cil this principle was approved. The idea was passed in Clinton some time ago. At present Goderich rich is the only municipality in the county that has meat inspection. According to Reeve Mel Crich, who is a mem- ber of the Huron County Health Unit Committee, the plan would not prove very expensive, since there is a provincial grant of $1,200 available. Middle- Junior Farmers Plan Activities For Coming Year • The directors and executive of the Huron County Junior Farmers, made plans for future activities. To -night a county Junior Farm- er Hockey Night will be held in Clinton Lions Arena with three games being played: Clinton vs. Seaforth; North Huron (Belgrave) vs. Exeter, and , Colwanosh vs. Howick. The games will be fol- lowed by a skating party'. 'On February 11 a county Junior Farmers' bonspiel will be held at 1.30 p.m. at the Seaforth Curling Rink. Each club in the county will have a team entered. Three drama festivals will be held:. on February 15, Seaforth, Exeter and Clinton clubs will com- pete at the Seaforth District High School; February 17,,,,North Huron, Colwanosh and Howick Clubs at the Blyth Community Hall,. while on February 23, the two winning clubs will compete at the Clinton District Collegiate Institute. The date of the annual meeting was set for March 24 in the Clin- ton District Collegiate ,Institute, when Carl Boynton, Woodbridge, York County, president of the On- tario Junior Farmers will be guest speaker. Mr. Boynton will give a travel- ogue trip to the World Assembly of Youth at Singapore. The annual at-home will be on Friday,15the Clinton April at AP District Collegiate Institute.
