Jam- ieson, R.R. 4, Clinton, was purch- ased by a Brussels man for $130; and another by H. Perdue were in Toronto on Tuesday, they were courteously received by Robert H. Saunders, Chairman of the Hydro Electric Power Commission of On- tario, and five members of his board. • "They did not at any time sug- gest that the Commission was of a mind to give the Clinton Town Council permission to dissolve the PUC here," reports Mayor Agnew. His Worship and the others in the delegation have decided not to make public any more information than this, at present, but suggest that anyone interested may attend the meeting of Council on Monday evening, May 7, when a report of the meeting will be presented. Butler Gets Degree In Philosophy Among the students receiving their Doctor of Philosophy Degrees at the University of Toronto on on May 28, was Alfred James Butler, son of Mr. and Mrs. Myron Butler, Bayfield. Alfred is a for- mer graduate of Clinton Colleg- iate Institute, graduating ita the early part of World War 11, He spent four years in the ser, vice, first in the RCAF and later in the merchant navy. Then he entered the University of British Columbia, gaining an honour B.4. degree in 1948 and an MA degree in 1949, He then came to the University of Toronto for post graduate work, later spending two years as psych- ologist at Ontario Hospital School, Orillia. After another year of post graduate work at U. of T, in Feb- ruary this year he went to The Training School at Vineland, New Jersey, as psychologist there. He auctioned 85 calves, one at a time, and he did the whole job in 65 minutes. The feeder calf club show was the big item on the program at the Hensel] fair this year, but good showings were also made in the horse classes, and in the reg- ular beef classes. The horse show brought out most of the regular exhibitors in Western Ontario, with a total of 22 exhibitors putting horses in the ring. Five exhibitors contributed to the Shorthorn show and five to the Hereford show; only dairy herd on the grounds was the exhibit of Holsteins from the Huron County Home farm, near Clinton. The feeder calves were. judged by Clinton Devlin, buyer for a Toronto packing firm, and the club members were judged on show- manship by Hugh McGill of the livestock branch, Ontario Depart- ment of Agriculture. Managing the feeder calf club show were G. W. Montgomery and Harold Baker of the Huron County office of the Ontario Department of Agricul- ture, Club show arrangements were in charge of Jack Kinsman, club president,and James Mc- Gregor, club secretary. Junior champion showman in the feeder calf club was Mildred Bal- lantyne; senior showmanship champion was- Robert Parsons.
