'Fran Nesbit

M. and Mrs. Alf Nesbit were
called,•to Erindale on Sunday due
to the sudden death of Mrs. Nes-
t -Ws brother, Frank Christopher•
(Kit) Nesbit. Mr. Nesbit was
planning to come to Blyth and
Auburn last weekend when strick-
en with coronary thrombosis. He
passed away shortly after at Oak-
ville -Trafalgar Memorial Hospital.
The deceased was .born lu May
1897 in :'Yorkshire, ,England, the
son" of the: late Frank Nesbit and
Martha : Rogerson, He emigrated.
to this country. in 1923 and settled
in Blyth. He entered the service
of the Canadian Pacific Railway
and served at several Ontario cen-
tres.

Mr. Nesbit was a member sof'
Dixie Masonic Lodge and ,of ;St
indergarten Classes
Parents are requested. to register all children
eligible to attend Kindergarten Classes, com-
mencing. September, 1954.
Children will be admitted on basis of age until
accommodation is filled. Register by letter not
(Later than June 15, 1954.

widow ,of the late Fred Fawcett,
following: an illness of two months.
.Mrs. Fawcett, who was born in
EnglandAn •April 15, 1872, was the
third ,of a family of 12 children of
the late Mr. ;and Mrs.. Joseph Liv-
ermore.
With her parents she name to
Canada 77.8 ;)tears ago. Following
her .marriage she resided in Sea -
forth and.Olinton but for the past
54 years ;hail ,Ween a resident of
B137O11 Where •she 'was ;well' and fav-
ourably known.
She was a :rnetiiber .of the Wo-
znenLt ,te for 40 years and
many .of ;the splendidreadings she
contr tatted' there =will long be re-
membered 1 y the ,older members.
' She was a lite member of the
Woman's :Missionary Society of
Blyth 'Ugi4te4 Church and an ac-
tive mernher of the 'Woman's As-
sociation
She was also ,a charter member
,of the Ladies' A.uXil`:ary to the
Canadian Legion Branch No. 420,
Blyth, under whose auspices a
memorial 'service was .held in the
Tasker memorial chapel on Mon-
day evening,
On Tuesday afternoon ;a public
service was held In Blyth United
Church. Rev. C, J. Scott, former
minister of the church, now of
Sarnia, officiated,
Mrs. Harold Campbell sang "Un-
to the Hills, Around Do. I Lift
Uprr
Pallbearers were : William
Brown, Elmer Pollard, Lorne
Scrimgeour, Bailie Parrott, George
Radford and George McNall. Flow-
er -bearers were grandsons and
nephews: William Madigan, Toron-
to; Brian Hooper, Toronto; Jack
Lowe, Brussels; Gordon Workman,
Brussels; George Leith, Listowel;
Russ Bezeau, London, and Jim
Vincent, Clinton.
Interment took place in Union
Cemetery, Blyth.
Surviving are one son, Fred
Fawcett, Toronto, and four daugh-
ters, Mrs. Pearl Lowe, Brussels;
Mrs. Bert (Minnie) Moss, Cleve-
land, Ohio; Mrs. Ed, (Elsie) Lock-
yer, Toronto, and Miss Gladys
Fawcett, also of Toronto.
Two daughters predeceased her,
Mrs. P, (Elva) Cockriel, Califor-
nia, and Mrs. Alex (Susie) Cuth-
bert, Toronto,
One brother, James Livermore,
Clinton, and one sister, Mrs. Jack
Leith, Hamilton, also survive.
There are 11 grandchildren and 15
great-grandchildren,

40th Anniversary
Mr.. and Mrs. George Millian
were guests of honor at a dinner
held at the home of their son-in-
law and daughter, Mr, and Mrs.
Jack Gardner, Goderich, on the
occasion of their 40th wedding an-
niversary. It was also Mrs. Gard-
iner's birthday.
Mrs. Millian was the former
Florence McPhee, daughter of the
late Mr. and Mrs. Charles McPhee.
Mr. Millian is a son of the late
Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Millian, Col-
borne.
The wedding of 40 years ago
took place at the home of the
bride's parents with the Rev. And-
rew -Laing officiating. Following
their marriage the couple farmed
on the sixth concession of Colborne
until nine years ago when they
moved to the Charles McPhee farm
on the 10th of Colborne.
Mr. and Mrs. Millian are both
members of Knok United Church
choir and Mrs. Millian belongs to
the Women's Institute.
There is one son, Charles, on the
dome farm; and six daughters,
Mrs. (Minnie) Douglas McNeil,
Nile; Mrs. (Mildred) Jack Gard-
iner, Goderich; Mrs• (Evelyn)
Frank Tredle, Colborne; Mrs.
(Mattie) Charles Mitchell, Col-
borne; Colleen, London and Ruth
at home.
During the evening the family
presented the couple with a gold
wrist watch and a ring.

father, Russell King athd other re-
lations on Monday.
Visitors with Mr. and Mrs. John
Houston over the weekend were
Miss Mary Houston, Hamilton;
Miss Francis Houston, London;
Miss Jean Houston and Miss J.
Jamieson, Toronto.
Mr. • and Mrs. Frank McIlveen
and family, Oshawa, spent the
weekend with the former's par-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. F. O. Mcllveen.
On their return Mr. and Mrs. Mc-
Ilveen accompanied them for a
visit.
Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Nesbit at-
tended the graduation exercises
of Western Ontario Agricultural
School at Ridgetown. At the sere•
mony one of the graduating stud-
ents was Lawrence Nesbit who
had successfully completed his
two-year course.
Visitors over the weekend with
Mr. and Mrs, L. Glasgow were
Misses Sandra Cook, Grace Harv-
ey, CeciIy Serogg, Patricia Cooke,
Messrs Richard Symonds, Fred
and George Baker, all of Colborne.
They assisted with the music at
St. Mark's Anglican Church on
Sunday with solos and quartettes,

Women's Institute
Mrs. Wesley Bradnock presided
for the monthly meeting of the
Women's Institute held in the For -
resters' Hall on Tuesday. The
meeting opened with the "Ode"
with Mrs. R. J. Phillips at the pia-

repeated in unison, the Mary Stew-
art Collect and 0 Canada.
During the business period the
secretary read several thank you
notes. A hand painted picture
which was done by one of the
members, Mrs. Maud Fremlin was
on display. This picture was shown
at the district annual at Belgrave
and will be displayed at Toronto
and judged. • Mrs. Fremlin also
donated a picture to the Institute
and tickets are being sold on it.
The guest speaker was C. H.
Epps, Clinton, who gave an inter-
esting and instructive talk on
"Care of flowers." Mr. Epps was
introduced by Mrs. William Gross.,
A vote of thanks was accorded
Mr. Epps for his interesting talk,
The motto, "Keep us 0 God
from pettyness, let us be larger
in thought, in word, in deed," was
taken by Mrs. C, ni Straughan.
A quartette was offered by Elva
Gross, Jean Glousher, Rena Mc-
Clinchey and Joanne Eason.
Mrs. Gordon Taylor gave a pap-

The Arnold Auxiliary of Carmel
Presbyterian Church, Hensail; met
'at the home of Mrs. A. R. Orr on
May 17. During the business it was
decided to 'hold a cake sale in
Fink's store in June.
Mrs. Kennedy gave a 'brief re-
port on visiting the home helpers
and very graciously invited the
auxiliary to hold the June meeting
at their new home in Grand Bend.
Mrs. Harry Snell had chargeof
the topic for the evening -and
brought a very interesting account
of the work of hospital visitors.
Mrs. A. Kerslake favoured with
a solo, "Teach Me to Live". The
worship was prepared by Mrs. 3.
