the congregation voted the minist-

and requested him to conduct the
deliberations of the hour. Mrs.
Russel Heard was appointed sec-

Mrs. Dewar Talbot submitted
the minutes of the last annual
business meeting in the absence of
Mrs. Anna Brown now visiting in
Ohio.
The chairman called for the cus-
tomary reports of various organiz-
ations, including the Kirk Session,
Women's Missionary Society, The
Board of Management, The Ch-
urch School, the Trustees and
Treasurer of the church,"
Highlights of these reports in-
dicated that the communion ser-
vices during 1953 over 94% of the
members were present to observe
the Sacrament of The Lord's
Supper. The church magazine
"The Presbyterian Record" is to lieplaced, by authority of the Kirk
Session in every home of the con-
gregation. William Armstrong was
appointed to represent St. An-
drew's Church, Clinton as well as
Knox, Bayfield, at meetings of the
Presbytery of Huron -Maitland and
Vernon Oesch was appointed al-
ternative representative. The Kirk
Session's recommendation to con-
tinue co-operation with St. Paul's
Anglican church, Clinton, in vac-
ation time, was heartily endorsed;
A new oil heating electrically
controlled, plant was installed dur-
ing the year, much to the satisfact-
ion of the congregation and a new
guard-rail leading to the church
entrance makes for greater safety
in mounting the church steps.
After,, all bills were paid by
treasurer including repairs, new
installations and ordinary running
expenses a balance of nearly $400
besides the investment of legacies
was shown,

Plan Variety Night.
The January meeting of the
Summerhill Ladies' Club was held
at the home of Mrs, Wes Hoggart
with 19 members and three visit-
ors present. The meeting was
opened by singing "Jingle Bells,"
followed by the Lord's Prayer in
unison,
"Thank you's" were received
from Mrs. Chester Farquhar and
Kenneth Vodden.
The program committee report-
ed that the variety concert
would be presented in the hall Jan-
uary 22,
The program consisted of a word
contest conducted by Mrs. Allan
Neal and won by Mrs. William
Blacker. Mrs. Keith Tyndallgave
a humorous reading. Mrs. Wes
Prior to her departure for an
extended visit, Mrs. Riddick, on
behalf of the Good Will Club, pre-
sented Mrs. Cox. with a small gift,
A hymn was sung after which
Miss Stone presented interesting
world events. A hymn followed -by
the. Mizpah benediction closed the
meeting.

In the absence of the president,
Mrs. Robert MacKenzie, Mrs. Rob-
erton, presided and opened the
meetingwith a call to worship and
the hymn "O God Our Help" The
scripture lesson was read by Mrs.
William Shaddoek, and Mrs. James
Makins offered prayer.
Two letters from Miss Ida White
R.N., India, and Miss Beatrice
Scott also of India's Presbyterian
Missionary staff were received and
read. Miss White told of the joys
and difficulties in learning the Hin-
du language, and Miss Scott, a
teacher, spoke of the efforts being
made to establish family worship
in the new Christian Hindu homes
in: India. Both of these young
women asked for the prayers of
the people at home.
Mrs. Lane introduced the study
book for 1954. "A' Voyage of Dis-
covery" and spoke on the opening

Rebekah Lodge No. 306 was held
on Monday evening,. January 18,
After the opening exercises, and
business discussed, two letters of
thankswere read by the recording
secretary. One from Mrs. M. E.
Jacob thanked the lodge for their
donation towards the reclining
chairs for the County Home;and
Vodden conducted a joke contest.
Lucky number ,as held by Mr. N,
Forbes. The raffle was won by
Mark 'Jenkins.
The February meeting will be
held at the home of Mrs. Percy

The Girls' Club of Ontario Street
United Church held its monthly
meeting on January 14, at the
home of Mrs. Roy Wheeler, with
Mrs. Olde presiding.
The meeting opened with the
singing of "0 Worship the King.'
The devotional period was con-
ducted by Mis. J. Gilbank who
discoursed the meeting between
Jesus and Nicodemus, Miss Hab-
kirk read a chapter from the 'scrip

ture,
The minutes from the last meet-
ing were read by Mrs. Gillbank,
It was approved that tickets. shou-
ld be sold at 35 cents each, be
inclusive, for the forthcoming
film and talk by the Dounham
Nursery Co., details of which will
be given at a later date,
Mrs, '.Radford gave a fine men-
dition of a "Revenue on the piano".
Mrs:. Wheeler led in the singing of
favourite hymns with Miss Elva
Wiltse at the piano.
Two very interesting films "Jap-
an" and "Focus for the Record
were shown, the latter dealing
with the important relationship
between parent and child in the
home.
A delicious lunch was served and
a vote of thanks was given by
Mrs. McCabe to Mrs. Wheeler and
all those who helped to make the
evening so enjoyable.

Receives Reports
The Woman's Missionary Soc-
iety of Wesley -Willis United Chur-
ch held its first meeting of the
year at the home of Mrs. P. Hearn
with the president Mrs. Shepherd
presiding and Mrs, Hearn at the
piano. Annual reports were giv-
en showing all departments in
good condition and our allocation
well exceeded,
The worship service was taken
by Mrs. Charles Nelson front the
Study book, "Where'er the Sun".
This was followed by a ca'ndle-
lighting service with 12 ladies
taking part, each representing a
month of the year and reading a
verse of a hymn appropriate to
the candle representing the Light
of the World," The leader gave
some timely New Year thoughts
and a New Year's poem and pray-
er closed the meeting after which
a social half hour was spent.
The February meeting is to be
held in the church parlors and is
to take the form -of a Birthday
meeting. Each member is to an=
swer the roll call by paying her
birthday money, •

Pot Luck Supper
The Friendship Club of St, Paul's
Anglican Church held its annual
meeting in the form of a pot -luck
supper on Wednesday, January 13.
The new officers were installed by
Rev. R. M. P. Bulteel. The retir-
ing president, Mrs. Jessie Hart,
was presented with a gift from
the club by Mrs. Dorothy Crozier,
the new president for 1954. Plans
were made for the Blossom Tea to
be held in May. The club had a
very successful year in 1953. Fin-
ancial
inancial assistance was given to the
Sunday School, restoration' fund of
the church and for equipment for
kitchen and Parish 'Hall.

Receives Reports
The Woman's Missionary Soc-
iety of Wesley -Willis United Chur-
ch held its first meeting of the
year at the home of Mrs. P. Hearn
with the president Mrs. Shepherd
presiding and Mrs, Hearn at the
piano. Annual reports were giv-
en showing all departments in
good condition and our allocation
well exceeded,
The worship service was taken
by Mrs. Charles Nelson front the
Study book, "Where'er the Sun".
This was followed by a ca'ndle-
lighting service with 12 ladies
taking part, each representing a
month of the year and reading a
verse of a hymn appropriate to
the candle representing the Light
of the World," The leader gave
some timely New Year thoughts
and a New Year's poem and pray-
er closed the meeting after which
a social half hour was spent.
The February meeting is to be
held in the church parlors and is
to take the form -of a Birthday
meeting. Each member is to an=
swer the roll call by paying her
birthday money, •

Pot Luck Supper
The Friendship Club of St, Paul's
Anglican Church held its annual
meeting in the form of a pot -luck
supper on Wednesday, January 13.
The new officers were installed by
Rev. R. M. P. Bulteel. The retir-
ing president, Mrs. Jessie Hart,
was presented with a gift from
the club by Mrs. Dorothy Crozier,
the new president for 1954. Plans
were made for the Blossom Tea to
be held in May. The club had a
very successful year in 1953. Fin-
ancial
inancial assistance was given to the
Sunday School, restoration' fund of
the church and for equipment for
kitchen and Parish 'Hall.

Go-Geters' Club was held at the
